Odd targeting/proximity/curser bug

Post by dragon wench »

I seem to have an odd bug.. probably mod-induced
For some reason, I can't seem to pick up/interact with objects that are situated at particularly low angles.
As an example. I could not pick up the dwemer cube, no matter what I tried, I could not get a fix on it, and I didn't get the little box telling me what it was. Similarly, I am having a lot of trouble opening trap doors, no matter how much I put my curser over things like this, I'm unable to do anything with them.

I'm assuming that somehow a mod has messed up a distance/cursor settings or something. While I can use the console to get around the problem (and maybe telekinesis will help), it is quite irritating.

Has anyone experienced anything like this, and is there any way for me to fix it?

Jump on it?

I have encountered a similar problem in an unmodded GotY PC version... The corpse of the DB leader is visible through walls and can't be used... I have to enter and exit... not a big problem, but still a problem...

I could try jumping on the accessible trap doors I guess...

But I'll still have trouble picking objects up off the ground, or those situated on low shelves...

I'm figuring there might be some kind of setting in the construction set that could be tinkered with, but I've no idea where... I looked under Gameplay variables, but could not really see anything.

DW, I don't know how many mods you're using, but if the problem is relatively new, try unloading one or two more recent mods--hopefully, nothing that will cause you to lose items.

I also suggest the TES Plugin Detector. You can it in two modes, comparing one mod to all others, or comparing all mods to all others. By using the latter, you'll find any conflicts.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

I used the TES plugin conflict detector, and apparently I have no conflicts...
Thanks anyway, though, Fable. :)

I did just try a telekinesis potion, however, and that worked fine. So if worse comes to worst I can always stock up on bonemeal and scuttle...

But still, it mystifies me...

I have also noticed that most locks are too complex, which should not be the case (my security is at 50, and a level 20 lock was apparently too complex  ). And combat is much more difficult. I'm not really complaining here, magic can open locks, and the battles being harder makes for better gameplay.
But, it does reinforce my suspician that somehow my settings were put out of wack.

EDIT
Bah.. looks like telekinesis might not work after all..
I really hope I do not need to reinstall again.. *sigh*
