Hmmm...I've never encountered any mod that deals with the BMU - so I'm not going to be much help sorry...but why is it important to wear it but not look like an Iron Golem?

I thought the only reason anyone would wear the Big Metal Unit was to look like the Iron Golem.

it does have other benefits i think but as you said, the whole point of it is that it effectively encases you in an iron golem machine thing so surely getting rid of that defeats the whole point of it.

Where do you find the BMU?

Please pardon my ignorance, haven't seen anything on this before. Is the Big Metal Unit something in a mod. I recently finished SoA and never saw anything resembling what is described in the earlier posts on this thread. Did I miss something or is this maybe a class related quest? Where do you find it? Sounds like something interesting to try at least once.

Thanks

not 100% positive...

but I think the Shapeshifter (re)balance mod in Ease-of-Use overrides the Iron Golem Shape when equiping the paw (to become a (Greater)Werewolf)...

may need some - aehm- tweaking through SK:

create a (Half-Elf) Druid kit -> Lycanthrope -> SK to Fighter/Druid

should be able to use Big M

if you feel evil place a normal Druid weapon in main hand and the paw off hand :speech:

But then your mages miss out on the Robe of Vecna (Why would your mages need a good AC anyway?), and all that increased spell casting...thieves can't (at least I think so) use their abilities..

And you quoted Deadalready..not me. ;)

It does indeed. I believe the second "best" armor in the game is the -4, from some drow armors in the underdark which will disintegrate anyway. Apart from that, there are various armors that will give you -2. I have to say that -10 pretty much rips that apart, making the Big Metal Unit very usefull. I think I hit -30 AC with my fighter/mage wearing this armor, which is pretty neat.

It's nowhere near the "best armor" in the game, though, as AC doesn't matter that much in the end. Melissan, Demogorgon, The Ravager and every other big meanie will hit you anyway. Flesh Armor+5 and Robe of Vecna is way more usefull. I love the White Dragon Armor myself. :)

There aren't many very fancy armors in the game, come to think of it. Not anything that can match the ridiculous overpowerness of Carsomyr and similar items. :o

I was just saying anyone can wear it, yea vecna is best for mages but as an armour BMU would be best for any other class(cept maybe thief as well) but you cant wear it in majorty of the game cause of the huge shape you take, and it dosnt look that role playing either :p

and ops ur rite the quote wasnot urs :p

some one should make a mod if it isnt made already it would be very popular me thinks

na if u have ascension melissons lackys almost always bash u to death with melee or range weapon, only sendi and iranicous and mellison herself( which is Fighter and mage) uses alot of magic.. and demogorgon also summons tones of melee based creatures
Ravengor is all or most melee..

And just exactly is that a "na" to my post? I know they will bash you to bits, but having an armor of -30 won't keep them from doing it, as I said in my post.

you could try to alter your apperance through chea

incase you don't know this
open baldur.ini located in you Bg II folder write under [program options] Debug Mode=1 so it looks like this

[program options]
Debug Mode=1 (this is case sesitive)

now ingame you just hold down ctrl and press 5 and 6 to change your apperence dont know if you need ToB for this

cool i didnt know this lol, its awesome but unfortunatly dosnt work
i just found out something though, i am in the underdark and with the drow illusion the shape change dosnt happen!! i looked thourgh global effects and stat flags in SK to find where this drow illusion change happens to make it permenant but couldnt find it(so many stuff in there..) can someone who knows how the codes in sk works find it?

Edit: i found, PLAYERLOOKSLIKEDROW in global variables in sk but it dosn't seem to keep the drow shape after its been dispelled by adolan ( the dragon).. something else might be at works here
also there might be a vairable for the shape change itself
