Malkavian Strategies

Post by Koreteve »

Lets start off with the basics. Malkavians are not exactly known for their melee weapon expertise. If you to use melee weapons, thats on you, but for the doped up gorilla towards the end you may want to make use of ranged weapons.

This is where a Malkavian shines.

If you can train it that high, Bedlam is a very fun and powerful tool. Here is an example of using it:

Lets say you're at the Ventrue Tower towards the end and theres kine there. They're all packing killer weaponry.

This is where we blend into the shadows.

Obfuscate, creep (or whatever your level allows you to do), Bedlam, and watch them go at it. Pick off the ones that happened not to get suicided/berserked.

Example Two: We're in close quaters and you're almost out of ammo! You forgot to see Mercurio didnt you? Or did you let him die? Fat Larry then? You killed him too?! What about Trip? Tseng? You animal. Oh well...

Fear not, for we have bedlam! Watch as he either stops, becomes useless, dies, or joins your side for a moment before he has cardiac arrest.

Might want to keep a few blood packs handy, because it isnt exactly the cheapest one you use. Out of blood packs? Hell, good old Hysteria works wonders. Forgot about it after it served its purpose in the Warehouse didnt you? Hysteria, get in, get your meal! Make sure your humanity is pretty high, because well...you'll likely frenzy with all the blood loss and...I've frenzied on my ghoul before. It wasnt a pretty sight. Poor lass. She looked so good too.

Favorite weapon: Magnum in fan mode
Favorite discipline: Bedlam
Favorite armor: Body Armor

Neat use of all three? Watch!

BLAM! BEDLAM! BLAM BLAM BLAM DEAD! Ooooh you wascilly wabbit!

EDIT: Spelling 'grrrr!'

Malkavians are not exactly known for their melee weapon expertise.
Then most clans aren't known for their melee expertise. There are a few clans with disciplines that can boost melee (Brujah and Toreador), all others are equal.
... and theres kine there ...
Mhh, kine == food! While I suppose Bedlam once in while would be fun, I prefer to use them for feeding.

Any clan with Auspex has an advantage in shooting - any clan with Potence has an advantage at bashing. All others are neutral.

Bedlam is one of the most fun tools available to any clan. Sure you can feed on them , but seeing them go at it with machine guns is about the most fun I've had.

EDIT2: As Jack said (on Sabbat, but applies here too): 'Its like the three stodges, only with chainsaws!"

One of my favorites is using Berserk as appetizer when going to dine on the Giovanni's. The initial chaos is, so ... malkavian :D I suppose bedlam is one step funnier.

I'd add Celerity as melee buff, rocks together with the TM-blade.

Fun Anyone?

I know Malkavians are generally better at using ranged weapons in combination with their skills but with my character I just upped my melee ability for one reason - The Fire Axe. It may seem stupid but I like the imagine my enemies would see before they die. A malkavian (therefore mentally unhinged) vampire fueled up on blood running at them wildly swinging a blood splattered axe while wearing some kind of weird costume. Now that children is scary. And hell I'm doing pretty well with my melee weapons as opposed to ranged, if I draw my katana and combine it with afew blasts of 'Vision of Death' everyone around me tends to die.

I imagine it would be even scarier to see someone unarmed casually walking towards you while you empty clip after clip into him or her and the bullets seem to have no effect.

AKA Johnny at Club Glaze. He was just a bit spooked when he shot you and you didn't flinch.

Malkavians are only 'kicked' into firearms, they can move into other weapons, its just easier to use firearms.

But I do understand where you guys are coming from. That would be funny.

Firearms is SO underpowered it's silly, and the ammolimit is annoying! I sold all my guns and equipiment for the finale in chinatown to afford all the ammo I could carry for the Magnum and McHusky, my favourites, thats like 400 rounds altogether, and when I was at the portal i had 94 left, and was slaugthered by Ming. I had to replay, and stoop to using uzis... very unfashionable. ;)

Anyways, enoguh complaining, Celerity rocks with firearms.
