Well I just started Fable (PC version) and I'm trying to decide what kind of combat I want to focus in. I think I want to be a Will user primarily (I've always preferred mages) but I want to try the others just to see how I like them.
Since I'm already pointing towards using magic, I don't want to spend too much time getting the hang of the Bow and Melee tactics, so I was wondering if anyone has any tips to show the full use of either or both. Are there any guides out there, or just general tips on using a melee or bow weapon effectively? I've played around with the melee a bit but the bow seems like it would be hard to specialize in exclusively. Everytime I'm up against more than 1 NPC I can get 1-2 good shots off before I'm surrounded at which point I need to switch to melee or spells. Is there something I'm missing?

Combat tactics for Bow and Melee
The key with bow weapons is obviously keeping them away from you. Spells like force push and enflame are really handy, except they tend to kill your allies too....
Getting a few points in the melee and bow categories won't cost you too much, because you gain experience in each as you use them, so the occasional brawl or archery fest will be fine for your exp, and not detract too much from will, which you can put all your general exp into.
Time stop is really handy for all classes.

The waves came crashing in like blindness.
So I just stood and listened.

I made a good bow user and so I have had quite a bit of practice using the bow. Simply put, the bow is the most ridiculously powerful weapon in the game due to the "charge" effect of holding the bow string. It may appear that holding down the "fire" button past a certain point isn't really doing anything...but don't be fooled, the damage can build up to insane amounts, allowing tough enemies to go down in 1 shot. I find this tactic to be relatively cheap considering how easy the game is, so I tend to simply use the "roll" command (block+direction) in order to quickly escape my enemies. Don't forget that adding points to the "speed" stat increases the cooldown time for arrows (what I mean is that it reduces the time it takes to "load" another arrow to the bow).
In terms of spells that assist a bow user? Physical shield is immensely useful but may make the game a tad too easy. Slow time is a very cool-looking spell and the one I prefer to use because it allows an arrow to be charged for quite a bit of time while the enemies move in slow-motion. Multi-arrow isn't very necessary as a single target will usually be taken down by a charged shot anyway, but it does give the bow a neat glowing effect.
