Laeral’s Tear Necklace

Was wondering... in the walkthrough here at gamebanshee, it's said that the Laeral’s Tear Necklace is worth 3000 gold when found in the last level of the iron throne mines. I went to a merchant and can get 90 gold for it. Who gives 3000 for it?

Sweet jesus. Went to a mage in BG and he's down for 3000. :D
