Tried that but he keeps importing minions...I end up dead due to his minions...if I deal with his minions I end up dead due to the Prince of demons...I am looking for a good strategy to kill him.

Before the combat, made a Spell Trigger and/or Spell Contingency with Pierce Magic and Lower Resistance.
Then, boost all your tanks with Bless, Haste, Smite and so on and attack him.

With this tactic, Demogorgon has last only 4 rounds and was unable to import minions.

If you have a spellcaster with Time Stop, cast it, crash the Prince's magic resistances and let your fighters do the job.

Time Stop is not a good idea from what I've heard. The Prince of Demons is immune to it, which basically means it's Mage vs Demo instead of party versus Demo & Co.

By Moradin's Hammer, NAY!

Ne'er cast Time Stop against Demogorgon! That be suicide.

Also, don't waste yer efforts on his minions. Once they be killed, Demogorgon simply gates in some more. Ignore 'em. Hack Deomgorgon himself. Use as much Greater Whirlwinds as ye can, summon hordes o' creatures, cast Breach when needed. He ain't that tough.

I concur with the drarf-like feller before me. Ol' Demo'll warp in to marileths at the beginning of combat (at least, that's been the norm for me; anyone had a different experience?). Have a tank or a summoned creature distract those snakes for now. Dispel Princie's protection spells (don't bother with offensive spells; His Demonic Royalness is immune to most spells), then whack em with everything and the kitchen sink. Finally, go collect your snake-hide boots. Unless of course you think you're extra tough and want the extra exp. Then, go ahead, kill the marileths, and try your hand at the hoard of glabrezus that follow.
...ewwwww. What is bad smell? You been killing dragons?

have as many wish spells as you can. with any luck you'll get some good choices, like everyone in your party get 25 for all attributes, everyone gets greater deathblow, etc.
and my favorite trick for dealing with demons...use limited wish to summon the horde of bunnies.

The very best way to kill him is to place as many traps you are able to place there he will spawn. I placed 6 traps before i spoke with him and when he apppered i got him down to Near Death and after that was it quite easy to kill him. I casted aslo a Spellstrike on him and after that was it so very easy to whack him out.
I know that he is resistant or immune to some traps but most of them work.
Do NOT use Timestop. He is as some here say immune to that spell. I did it the first time i meet him and lost almost both my warriors. So beware to use Timestop!!

Why Spellstrike? That only removes stuff like Spell Deflection/Turning/Trap...

Ah, Demogorgon. As it so happens, I beat him today ... it was over surprisingly quickly, but maybe my preparations were a little over the top.

Protection from Evil, Chaotic Commands and Death Ward on everyone, Improved Haste on the frontliners. Everyone who had Ironskins, Stoneskins, Armor of Faith and/or Hardiness activated those, too. I then summoned a planetar, the Prince of Earth and two Mordenkainen's Swords and cast Chant, Bless and Defensive Harmony on the whole gang. Don't bother with illusions (Mirror Image etc.), since Demogorgon's minions cast True Sight right away. I also had two Regenerations memorized but forgot to use them. ;)

I rushed my frontliners and the planetar down one stairway while Aerie, Imoen and the other summons took the other stair. As soon as I saw him, I Breached Demogorgon, then closed in, used Greater Whirlwind and watched the fur fly. Imoen lobbed a Spell Trigger with Pierce Magic and 2x Lower Resistance at him, but curiously, it did not seem to have any effect. The mariliths got the same Breach-and-Whirlwind treatment and died without much protest (contrary to my expectations, Demogorgon did not summon any replacements).

Oh, watch out for His Two-Headedness' nasty disease attack. He hit poor Jaheira with that one just before he bit the dust ... but the planetar took care of it (I really love these gals).

I think the key to my easy victory was that Demogorgon and his mariliths focused mainly on my summons, especially the Swords, which he rather ineffectually tried to Implode. If your crew is getting mauled, pull them out for a moment and try to make the enemy attack the Swords instead.

I think I'll give the improved Demogorgon AI fix a try now. ;)

Again, why does anyone try to Spellstrike or Lower Resistance Demo-dude? If he's immune to spells and the easy way to take him out is Greater Whirlwind, what's the use?

I put down a bunch of spike traps on his ass and he died right away. actually, that's what I do for every big fight. why should the most powerful bhaalspawn be bothered by such trivial things as combat? recipe for an easy ride: send the thief in to do it.
