I'm on my second time through, mainly to play around with magic I didn't get the first time. I want more celestial spells, but it seems like spellfire would also be fun. I'm currently a paladin/sorcerer and wondering which 3rd tier I should take. Does anyone know if you get all the celestial spells with a 2nd tier adept class? Basically, if I'll get more celestial spells by taking crusader I'll do that, but if not I'll go with wizard to get spellfire. Thanks for the help

This is an interesting thread...I also choose the Crusader option, and I noticed one major change. As soon as I became a Crusader the cost of upgrading to the next level of Celestial Magic went way down. Instead of well over a million and a half exp points for the next level up, the cost went down to only about 600,000! That was a definite improvement, because I am able to boost the power of my Celestial Magic faster, However, although I immediately bought 6 levels of Critical Strike, I didn't notice much, if any, difference in the damage caused by heavy or blunt weapons! My analysis is that it is a pretty weak 3rd tier talent. Next time I'll choose Wizard/Spellfire. I think it is a good assumption that the same halving of cost to upgrade would be the same for Arcane Magic skill with Wizard. Anyone else notice this?

p.s. How good is Spellfire, and if you can please describe it's effects. Thanks

wizard class
Yes, wizard class gives you an additional learning bonus for arcane magic. I'm up to about 20 in arcane now, which would be too costly otherwise. According to the manual, spellfire boosts damage for arcane spells and helps them penetrate anti-magic barriers. I don't know about the 2nd aspect since I'm not sure what has anti-magic barriers. Things that were immune to particular spells before spellfire (chunnelers, athena bashers, etc.) are still immune to them. Spell damage has definitely increased. Magic missiles do about 40, fireball 50-60, blast nova 80-90, and so on. I think I've got 8 in spellfire now and I plan to spend most of my points there to see how high I can get it.
