Embrace crash :( (Game is BUG RIDDEN)

Post by ildera »

I haven't even started playing this game yet. At first I had a problem of it crashing on start up and now it crashes just after I create a character. It says something about 'the embrace' then crashes to the desktop. I have played around with the settings (desktop, game, etc.) and got patches to get it this far. PLEASE HELP! I can't take this much longer before ebay calls.... What really get my 'feckles' up is that I got this game working on a friends computer before and I forget what I did. :o

Ildera.

*shrug* I ran it pre-patch on a mediocre computer with little to no problems. Others have found the game buggy as all get out. PC games are fickle that way.

The basics: (1) make sure your pc meets the requirement for the game, (2) make sure your video card drivers are up to date, (3) install the official patch, (4) optionally, install the unofficial patch. I'd also recommend minimizing many of the video settings. To begin with, I'd probably do a complete uninstall/reinstall of the game. It may be that you had an installation error of some sort.

Beyond that, I'm guessing that the board will need more specific information about your problem and your computer. You should definitely browse some of the "crash" threads in this forum (there are many) and at http://www.planetvampire.com (they have a fairly nice tech support forum for this game and I've seen quite a few posts there that are similar to your own). Gamebanshee's tech support forum also has some posts related to VtM:Bloodlines.

The good news is that if you do get it running, it's a very good game and you will enjoy it. Good luck.

the opening video sequence is quite choppy for me but thats the only part of the game i have a particular prob with but its never crashed during the opening video. it just stutters a lot. i think its my video and sound cards not being able to cope fully with it. have you tried lowering all settings to the lowest possible to see if that helps?

I had a problem similar to this, I was most upset because I had wanted this game for ages, and installing it excitedly, I found that every time I ran the game it would crash even before it got to the menu. (By the way, did anyone notice that in 2004 when it was released, it was on PC game shelves everywhere... and then after one week only, it disappeared off the face of the planet??? It was most frustrating for me because I had just saved up enough money to buy it and then it was gone... ) anyway, back to the point... I found that installing a thing called Python 2.4 solved my problem. I don't have a clue how it worked, but it did. http://www.python.org/2.4/ for more information if you can work it out.
I game, therefore I am.
