Soloing with an Inquisitor

Post by Yarrick »

First I would like to say hello. Secondly, about the post. Well I have to say I played the game more than few times but never actually finished, so that makes me quite unexperienced. I started the game with a solo Inquisitor, so far so good. I'm still in chapter 2 and doing those easy quests, Bloodscalp, De'Arnise, Umar Hills, blah blah. I killed the liches in Gates, Bridge and Temple... I have -7 AC and a fine weapon. I was just wondering, is there a way to kill The Shadow Dragon and maybe lord Jeridan Firekaag before I go to Underdark? I would like to to get the Carsomyr earlier so I can try my luck with the demi-lich (joking  ) and to finish the paladin quest.

If you need more info just yell, I couldn't write everything here, it's such a pain in the neck.

Thanks.

You can easily beat them with a little cheese (highlight to read)

*SPOILER*

Go near the dragon u want to rape, then put pause on, click talk on the dragon then take pause off, however before you actually talk to it, put pause on again and force attack the dragon. It wont attack you untill some time, but you can just walk away, pause, talk and repeat untill the dragon is dead, couple times is usually enough. If u cheese this way u can get carsomyr and rape kangaxx with a single protection from undead. if ur UBER cheesy then take jan/yoshimo with you, drink couple master thievery pots and pick pocter ring of gaxx from the first form before he talks to you. This way you'll get 2 ring of gaxx's

Kangaxx is much easier to kill with a solo Inquisitor than Firkraag. To kill Kangaxx, just use a scroll of Protection from Magic (use the Helm of Vhailor to cast Simulacrum so you can re-use the scroll) and the Improved Mace of Disruption or Daystar's Sunray, which will "insta-kill" Kangaxx on a good roll.

Firkraag is a pretty good match for a high-level Inquisitor who can use Carsomyr and the High Level Abilities such as Summon Deva and Greater Whirlwind. But a lower-level Inquisitor just doesn't have enough hit points or enough firepower to kill Firkraag singlehanded in a fair fight, and of course you can't use Carsomyr against Firkraag before you kill him. So I guess you have to resort to cheating or cheese to kill him in Chapter Two.

If you can muster up enough experience from all other quests, then you might be a high enough level when you fight Firkraag before doing the Underdark.

I konw for a fact, that in SoA, I capped all 6 members of a party before entering the Underdark, (that was in SoA, not with ToB installed), and I didn't use any cheese at all.

So if you kill everything that moves, you may be able to gain enough exp.
In memorian: Fiona; Ravager; Lestat; Phreddie; and all of those from the 1500 incident. Lest we forget.

Since you're soloing, you can definitely become powerful enough to beat these guys in chapter 2. Spoiler:
Defeating the Red Dragon is the last mission of the Paladin Stronghold, and you gain MASSIVE amounts of experience if you wait until they tell you to hunt him down.

Also, "fast talking" is what Elrohir is describing, and you're really going to take the fun out of the game if you ever use it. It's cheating, taking advantage of a faulty game system.

What combat strategies would you use? Also, how would you avoid being level-drained by the Shadow Dragon's breath weapon? Would you summon any decoys, and if so, how? (I can think of several items a Paladin can use.)

When i was fighting the shadow dragon (solo f/t/m), the "uses dragon breath" comes earlier than it actually happens, so i just ran off to the other side while hasted. You do get HLA's in chapter 2 if ur soloing.

And yes that talking is cheating, its annoying when i sometimes do it by accident IE. liches
