Hey, I'm Exploding Again!

Post by R.Carter »

Back before I loaded up ToB, I was experiencing what I though was a minor bug. My protag (thouroughly NE) would periodically "explode." It looked similair to the stun effect of "Celestial Fury." This usually happened as I was leaving an area, but sometimes I would "pop" just walking down the street. I loaded up ToB, and I thought my problem was gone.
Just recently, I changed into the Slayer to lower my reputation a couple of points. Shortly thereafter, I began to explode again! I believe that this exploding effect also damaged a party member who was right next the the protag when it went off.
I guess the question is: What are the long-term effects (if any) of changing into the Slayer, and are they determined by alignment?

Anyone?

Are you sure it wasn't a Catapult Rock that hit the streets in Saradush? Or a comet?

Happens to me too.

I don't think this effect is from the slayer change. Maybe i'm wrong. Whenever I cross a door I explode, no damage.

It is definately not a Comet, or a catapult shot or anything like that. I recently completed the game with a good protag, and never exploded.

You can change into the Slayer only for a short while, after that character dies. You will get warnings like "You feel your are loosing control...". This effect does not depend on alignment at all.
Crisis? No, there won't be any crisis next week, my agenda is already full!

The Slayer thing happens when you are in the slayer form, something about instability, and you get some damage; 4,8...

This exploding thing is diferent, when happens to me I originaly think it is an bug.

BTW the TOB expansion is an veridic insect plague.

The 'exploding' effect is definitely linked to the slayer change. You'll notice that that effect occurs when you change into or from the slayer. I don't know why it keeps happening afterwards, but I believe it's a bug.

Bump!

About the exploding question these posts tell nothing conclusive. In fact I still disagree that is linked to the slayer transformation,

but I hope it helps.

Ivan, I believe that the "exploding thing" is definately related to the Slayer transformation. I did not experience this effect at any time before my protag first willingly transformed into the Slayer. I think that Metatron is right. The explosion that I have been (and continue to experience) dealing with is the same in appearance to the one that occurs when the S.T. is triggered. As I am unsure now if it actually damaged another character (sorry for the repeat), I think it is just a benign bug. There are a lot of little quirks in all of the games that use this engine. It seems only natural that these two games have them too.
OK Ivan, so it's not conclusive. Let's hear why you disagree to it being related to the S.T.

I say that is not linked because no one says that the explosions start to happen after the first ST. As you say that, probably is linked.

But linked by a bug. I mean it is a bug, not somethimg that is suposed to happen by the Byoware guys.
