In what order do you do quests?

Post by Skeelo »

Everytime I start a new game I cannot find a viable order in which to do quests....always seems like I'm taking on some quests too early and I get screwed because I don't have the experience, spells or items to handle the quest. Anyone want to tell about a particular order they have?

Usually i complete these quests early:
1-circus tent
2-free hendak
3-jahiera and ployer
4-graveyard district (man buried and girl&knigt)
5-bridge district: end of buried man + skinner

After these you have gained a lot of skill points without fighting (except free hendak...but it's not a problem). After i complete Mae'var quest in order to gain a lot of money and being able to side with the shadow thieves early in the game because: you gain a lot of exp points in their first 2 quests; and you gain early the ring +2 and the amulet of power.
After that you're able to go on with the game in the order you want. ;)

Skeelo,
Do you speak of the "starting" quests when in Athkatla only ?
Of these I found none particularly difficult before the Unseeing Eye...and the basement of the Inn at the town gate !! :D :D :D

The hardest fights I had was with Vampires after having refused Bodhi's "help", and Mencar's band, but these were not "quests".

Not just quests in Athlatka but just overall. Can't seem to find a good order to do them.

OK....to my previous list add:
6-trademeet (you gain a lot of good equipment after completing that)
7-umar hills
8-windspear hills
9-unseeing eye
10-body (first time)
11-brynnlaw&underdark....and then the rest of the game....
After this, you'll probably play the exact copy of a game of mine.... :p (tell me what class is your main char. and your party....i'm curious)

@Skeelo; This may not be the best but it seems to work well for me (three times through completely and many partials).

1) Circus Tent
2) Book of Kaza (Korgan’s Quest)
3) Paladin in the Graveyard
4) Man buried alive
5) Bridge district – two here – the grave robbers and the Skinner Murders
6) NOTE: Usually between these I get Zar’s Quest revolving around the poisoned man and the Harper HQ.
7) D’Arnise Keep (Nalia’s Quest)
8) Trademeet (Druid Quest)
9) Umar Hills
10) Planar Sphere
11) Freeing Hendrick (Slaver Quest)
12) Sewers
13) Haer’Dalis (Astral Prison)
14) Unseeing Eye
15) Guarded Compound
16) Windspear Hills
17) Temple Ruins
18) Mind Flayer area in the sewers
19) This is where I then make the deal to start Chapter Three
20) Mae’Var
21) Aren Linvale/Bhodi quests (whichever way you swing)

Anyone want to bet me money they won't? Few companies give out their source codes. Mostly just shareware and *nix OS's.

You should sign the petition anyway. It doesn't hurt to try.

Some quests are easier than others... Wouldn't go for Kangaxx the moment I stepped into the daylight in Waukeen's Promenade :D

Which quests are generally considered easy money?

I would do 1.circus quest before chapter heading into chapter two. Then freeing the slaves in the slums so have access to more items for sale in copper coronet. Plus I would be able to get Lilacor at this point. Then I would head toward the unseeing eye in the temple because my strategy is to pick up all the characters I will want in my final party as soon as possible (keldorn being one of them). I clean out just the first part of the sewers pick up keldorn and then head toward the keep to fight the trolls. Coming back I would start equipping my party better by finding lich in city gates for daystar sword. Since my charactor is a mage I would also pick up valagar at this point in Umar hills and get celestral fury for valagar in the temple area building before heading to the planar sphere. I want to complete that quest and gain my stronghold as soon as possible because those events take some time to activate. before this I would also have started the harper quests for Jaheira's romance because thos take some time too. I basicly continue this way until i have completed all the subquests by chapter 3 before heading toward spellhold.

I go from circus tent to Mencar pebblecrusher.

Then I fart around in the bridge district for a bit- then I head into the sewers and free the bard to activate the "boots of speed" quest.

5) Trigger Raelis Shai's quest before going to Temple District(for convenience sake )
6) Unseeing Eye quest (Some cash, Saving Grace )
7) Save Haer'Dalis in planar prison (Boots of Speed, Melodic Chain,Bard stronghold)
8) Anarg's quest (gloves of healing,rep boost)
9) Tanner's quest (Rep boost,part of Gessen Bow )
10) Trigger Planar Sphere quest (convenience sake ;) )
11) Umar Hills quest (Shadow Dragon armour,Mazzy, the leather armour reward from Minister Lloyd, the sword from the mage, Some cash, Ranger Stronghold, Crom Faeyr scroll )
12) Trademeet (Blackblood,Tansheron's Bow, 10500gp(I think), Rep boost,statue :p , scimitar with extra attack )
13) Cernd's quest (usually triggered once I enter Athkatla, experience bonus)
14) Windspear Hills(Red Dragon Armour, Carsomyr, Lots of experience, Paladin stronghold, )
15) Mindflayer area (Hammer of Thunderbolts, Experience)
16) Planar Sphere (Gauntlets of Ogre Power,Ring of Acuity if I'm not mistaken, loads of experience)
17) Start chapter 3
18) Bloodscalp's quests (Boots of stealth, 10000 cash)
19) Kangaxx quest (Ring of Gaxx, loads of experience)
21) Linvail's quests (Amulet of Power, mace of disruption)
22) Leave for Spellhold

*the Graveyard District quest can be done at any time, the only battles that I miss before leaving for Spellhold are the Guarded Compound and the 'Rogue Stone' quest
