Sorry, if you didn't get the key at the time, then there isn't any way you can get it now, and you won't be able to fight the demon.

Sure there is.

Backup your savegame.
Open it up in a HEX editor.
Search for your characters name, it will show up 3 times.
After the 3rd instance of your characters name, search for one of the following:

9A00 (which is the Sewer Key)
9B00 (which is the Theatre Key)
9D00 (which is the Sewer Bridge key)

Then replace one of those with:

3B01 (which is the Demon Key)

Save, then enter the game and see if you have the Demon Key.

If you want, you can send it to me and I'll do it. Only takes a minute for me.

The savegame. It's under \Program Files\Dreamcatcher\Dungeon Lords\save by default, and named like "game03.sav".

The gamesave slots you see in game start from top left to bottom left, then top right to bottom right, being numbered from 0 to 9. So your first savegame in the top left would be "game00.sav" and your last one in the bottom right would be "game09.sav".

Just send me the one you keep loading to play by email... (email removed)

Update to follow

I used the procedure described above to edit for the key (my first try with a hex editor). I now have the key in my inventory. Soon I'll see if it works!

Getting an editor

Hex editors are easy to find. There's a link to a couple Dungeon Lord tailored editors in this forum. You can search the forum for 'hex' and it'll pull out the posts that talk about it and go from there. One member posted two editors, but I didn't find them useful for getting the key easily. It could be done, but I had trouble that way so I Googled 'hex editor' and found a free one called 'groovy hex editor'. After a little fiddling with it I figured it out. If it's your first time there'll be some definite intitial confusion. After a 1/2 hour of experimentation I think you'll get the hang of it. Follow the instructions posted by inDominae for best results. Or you can e-mail your saved game to inDominae and he claims he'll do it for you. That might be easier.
If you do get the hex editor you must avoid the temptation of swapping out all of your gear for the best stuff on the item list!
Remember to back up your saved game file before you start because you can edit yourself right out of a game if you're not careful.
Good luck.

I use a free hex editor named "Hedit"
Once ran it lists the file in Hex on the left, and ASCII on the right.
It also has a search function where you can search for your characters name, or you can scroll down and look for it 3 times on the right.
I recommend clicking Edit and then Find, typing in your characters name and clicking OK, then just hit the function3 key {F3 key} twice or untill you hear a ding, and click "OK" to "Data was not found". Then you should be in the right place to search for what you want to change.

You can download Hedit from my site.

It is absolutely free.

InDoMINaE,

The hex edit for the demon key works nicely. Do you happen to know the 4 digit code for the moonstone? tnx

NM, I had the presence of mind to download the items list and tried the 7600. The moonstone magically appeared! Now wouldn't it be great if all moonbridges could be activated very early in the game?

Demon Key: Same room you got the Gold Key near the lava hall. The prisonner who has it is the one closest to the levers that open cells. You may have to try many times!!!

Eye of the Sigil: It's the thing to activate the teleporter. Not to leave Naga Temple but to go to the Naga Queen (a tough one). In the big octogonal room with a square thing in the middle. There's a tiny button on the wall opposite to the entrance to open it ! Very poisonous, hope you got the gas mask!

You may still Email me your save game if you want. Just state what you want.

Will be my pleasure to help! ;)

P.S. Have you checked the walkthrough ?

I can do it for you. an average save file is 80KB or less once it is zipped. maybe even smaller with maximum compression. Try attaching it here if it's version 1.3 or there abouts.

Demon Stone Hedit

InDoMiNaE:

I just tried to follow your instructions but found nothing. I did find the name of my charactor 3x(s) but key(s) of any kind. According to my listing - I should have the sewer key, theatre key, etc. - but they don't show up in my saved game. Help!
