Problem with the lotus blossom at chinatown

Post by James Bond »

When I first visited Chinatown, I went straight to Ming Xiao in order to find the lost nosferatu agent. She told me to go to Wong Ho at the red dragon. He gave me the quest to rescue his daughter, who is being kept at the lotus blossom.
The lotus blossom however, is locked. All the doors.
The problem is, that I did not see the cutsequence after exiting Ming Xiao's temple. So I guess thats why the lotus blossom doors are locked.

I tried to get into the building, by cheating "changelevel ch_lotus_1" which actually worked.
Problem: After cheating myself into the building, my char has NO skills, NO Quests in the questlog and NO items.
How can I cheat myself into the lotus blossom, keeping my char?
Or is there a way to activate the cutsequence, which makes the doors opened?

edit: Sorry for submiting two threads :(

Lotus Blossum locked
The lotus blossom however, is locked. All the doors.

So I guess thats why the lotus blossom doors are locked.
I've got the same issue, but I wasn't aware of any cut scene with Ming Xiao that I might have missed. I went to a pre-Chinatown saved game and proceeded from there, with the same result.

I'm playing with a male Tremere; this is my second time through the game. The first time I played, using a male Ventrue, was shortly after the game's release, finishing not long after the 1.2 patch came out - it's possible there was some cut scene with Ming Xiao that I'm forgetting, but I doubt it. I remember the fights in the Lotus Blottom, and rescuing Kiki, and I don't recall having any similar problem then.

Anyone else had this happen? I'd rather get past it without using console codes, if possible, particularly if they're going to make me lose my inventory and skills...

Xiao Ming / thugs cut scene
there is a cutscene when you first leave the temple of the thugs running down the street towards the lotus blossom
Thanks, Mr_Sir.
I'm using the unofficial 1.9 patch. Has anyone else using 1.9 seen the cut scene with the thugs?

i've never used the 1.9 patch, but the cutscene was there with both the 1.2 and the 1.8 patches. i always went straight to the temple when arriving to make my prescence known to ming then after she tells you to go see wong you should be seeing the cutscene as soon as you re-enter the main chinatown bit after leaving the temple. you then go talk to wong for the first time and he gives you the quest to rescue his daughter. have you tried uninstalling the 1.9 patch and using the 1.8 one to see if it works then?

Problems with 1.9 patch and Chinatown

After a lot of searching and fiddling, I decided to uninstall the game, do a fresh install, put 1.2 on and then 1.8, and see if that worked. While I was doing this, I was looking for contact info for the author of the unofficial patches, and found this info:
Sorry guys, but this errors are indeed from the corruption that occured when uploading the 1.9 patch. To fix it fast, open vampire/python/chinatown/chinatown.py with some editor, search for "wong = Find("WongHo")" and add two spaces in front. Then everything should work fine again. Also expect the 2.0 patch to fix this very soon ;) ...
at the Planet Vampire forums. See:

I took a chance and put 1.9 on instead of 1.8, made that simple fix, and now everything works like a charm.

Many thanks for your help!
