Ew! Peanut butter is so gross! :p

(Unless it's on hot dogs, at which time it's delicious. :D )

Who needs a reason?
Hmm...has no-one suggested starting a tangent on Marmite yet? That seems to be a UK equivalent love/hate spread. :p
That I hate, btw.

You know, I met a goth lady who would eat anything if it was covered in ranch dressing. A mutual friend beat me to testing it when he covered something of his in ranch while we were eating late at night in a little diner. We were banned from the place. They had good food and were open 24/7 too!

@ AC, what on earth made you think of a hot dog dipped in peanut butter anyways?

I quite like ranch dressing...though I wouldn't go to the extent of putting it on anything. :D

@Fiona, if I have a good reason, I'll get badgered about my dislike of peanut butter less. Well, that's the idea anyway. :p ;)

Yep. Definitely agree with you on the Marmite.

lol! You'd have been welcome. Unfortunately, the issue of transatlantic travel and time zones complicates matters :D

Easy to make though.. Just saute some pancetta till crispy and set aside. In the same pan, add some butter and olive oil, place a chopped onion in melted butter and olive oil; cook over low heat and let it caramelise. Add about 3 cloves minced garlic, a handful of tiny green peas and some sage (fresh is best, but ground works fine). Cook until peas are warmed and garlic is golden. Slowly start adding cream, along with freshly grated parmesan, until you have the amount and consistency you want. Add freshly ground pepper. Add pancetta and warm it. Test to see if you want salt.

Serve over your favourite pasta. Sprinkle with fresh, roughly chopped basil :D

The base is indeed very similar to Alfredo sauce. Though I didn't call it that because I usually don't add meat or veggies if I'm making Alfredo.

lol! Well you'd be welcome too. Though good luck getting here. Feels like I'm living on the edge of the world most times, and this incessant rain we get in the winter only amplifies the feeling. *sigh*

Something that runs on my dad's side. We didn't have a lot of cash, you see, and what better foods for one on a budget to buy than peanut butter and hot dogs? It was only a matter of time until we put them together. ;)

Mmm... Ketchup and Mustard Sandwiches. Does anyone remember eating those when they were growing up?

No. My dad's second wife, and the mother of my little brother and sister got scolded harshly for feeding the little rugrats ketchup sandwiches or pasta drowned in ketcup. You just do not do such things to little Italian kids. It's heresy!
