Musings on TOB (spoilers)

Post by Kyle Marksteiner »

Here's my rundown.

Coolest battles: Ravager, the 1000 berserker dwarves, various demons in l3 watcher's keep.

Hardest battle: Draconis-mostly because his invisible friends kept setting off my traps.

Most dissapointing battle: Balthazar- hands down.

Most frustrating part of the game: I never got Imoen's stupid powers.

Biggest cheese: (tie) Greater Whirlwind and spike trap. How much crack were they smoking?

Most embarassing death: Mellisan- cast time stop- hit my protagonist 10 times- reload.

Best equipment: Staff of the ram +6, golem manual, vorpal axe.

Coolest part: duh, the level one adventurer comedy...though the fire giant citadel was kinda cool too. Saemon part was well done.

What I'm looking forward to having finished the game: Not having to hear Cespnar's voice as I cycle through the list of items.

hey, don't bad mouth cespenar! he was hilarious.
i do agree with most of what you put, especially balthazar, he fell in just about one or two rounds...very lame.

did you think draconis was harder than the end battle?

Yes Cespaner was really really annoying for me!!!!!!! I just wanted to kill that f***ing imp!!!!! His voice reminds me of Urkle (don't know if it is the right spelling) on an American TV show called Family Matters. I think some of you should have seen it, it's a pretty old show.

How can you NOT love Cespenar!?!?!?!?!?! Espesially when he says "Hindo's Doom? Can you say it? Hindo's DOOOOOOOOOOM!

I was also disapointed in Abazagal. He was the only dragon I have ever fought that fell on my first try. (without using quivering palm)
I will crucify him...real bad

Nael, the annoying part of cespnar was that you had to go through the entire thing each time, and after he made something you'd have to start all over. Since you didn't get the final head to the flail till the endgame, for example, you had to go past that every time. Wish you could pick up where you left off when letting him go through your pack.

Hmm, Draconis and the final battle both took me three tries (the highest number of any battle aside from the Twisted Rune) so I suppose it's a tie. Was quite excited when I discovered that you can actually save in the throne of bhaal area.
Demogorgon, Abizail and the red dragon in watcher's keep all killed me once and the fire trolls, who apparently see invisible, chunked Imoen once and forced a reload. Skeletal party in the MAster Wraith area forced a reload after I tried to solo them with Anomen but they resisted being disrupted 10000 times.

just drop your items there on the floor in your portal and you won't have to hear the things you don't want to.
melissan took me SOOOO many tries, everythign else i whooped up on in at most one reload. finally with melissan i had to do a bit of cheesy tactics with multiple simulacrams.i also forgot to save when i could, so when i would die i had to start all over and it was just wearign on my nerves...

I didn't think Melissan was that tough. Only took me one try (two since my computer crashed in the middle of the battle....imagine how pissed I was). I didn't use any cheese tactics, aside from Greater Whirlwind, which is kind of cheesy in and of itself.

I was doing fine on the first try until the aforementioned time stop/slaughter. Makes me kinda wanna play a fighter/mage to combine time stop with whirlwind. That would be what, 30 guaranteed hits, if you did it right?

Coolest battles: Demobaboon and the Orc horde in Watcher's keep!

Hardest battle: The wraith thing in Watcher's Keep, but not because of him...

Most dissapointing battle: Balthazar. Planetar, Elemental Prince, me and Korgan Greater Whirlwind, dead in a few secs!

Most frustrating part of the game: Abazigal's Lair, the level with all these eyes...AND NOT GETTING A CHANCE AT KICKING SAEMON'S SORRY A**!!!! I just CTRL Y'd him for satisfaction :)

Biggest cheese: Planetars...one dispatched the final Sendai almost singlehandedly...

Most embarassing death: That wraith in watcher's keep. Killed him and his goons with spells, my main char goes to loot some stuff and walks over a Flesh to Stone trap...

Best equipment: Axe of the Unyielding, The Answerer...

Coolest part: Sendai's enclave, I love drow.

What I'm looking forward to having finished the game: Not having to see that annoying Solar with her monotone voice again...

Whew, I'm not alone. Jesus Christ but Cespenar was annoying! I'm sure the BG Developers thought they were rather clever making an important NPC with a voice like nails on a chalkboard who behaves like a five year old on crack, but god, he is so awful.

ROFL. Couldn't have described his voice better...well maybe on crack and...helium(don't know the English term...duh, makes your voice all high and squeaky and is used to fill baloons.)

why couldn't you kill saemon? if you let him take you to balthazar, he doesn't teleport away and you can kill him.

My Coolest Battle: Draconis. This was the most action packed dragon fight for me. The use of invisibility and healing were pretty surprising and the whole battle was a fantastic challange that was really fun.

My Hardest Battle: Melissan. It just took a whole lot of endurance and strategy.

My Best Equipment: Vorpal Sword and Axe of Unyielding. I love the vorpal ability that kills instantly, the little ghost graphic is too cool. I laugh like Sarevok every time this happens.

My favorite scene: The beginning, the city under siege. I thought it was so cool to have the siege going on and the city being bombarded.

My funniest scene: The Solar. The Solar usually talks about fullfilling the prophecy and destiny and all that but eventually tells me, "You disgust me." Ha ha!

Now that it's over: What do I do now? I've been playing this game for months, it has always been there for me with more quests and more adventures. Now, boo-hoo, it's over. Well, now I am starting a game in BG with a thief to take through all the way to ToB. The high level thief abilities look pretty cool and I haven't had any characters yet that became high level thieves.
