Washington
Denver
Pittsburgh (I have to, I hate the colts...)
Carolina

... I admit I'm not terribly confident about these picks though.
Bears are second in red zone scoring? So what, they went 4 out of 5 this year? :p They have to get inside the red zone before that even becomes a factor, which given the Bears offense they might manage to do once this week. :D

RE:Seattles stats...League MVP's rarely play in the Super Bowl (Ask Peyton Manning, McNair, Barry Sanders, etc). None of those guys got to the SB the year they won the award. They do have a Pro Bowl QB, but this is in the NFC where Michael Vick made the Pro Bowl and the usual QB's like Dante, Donavan, and Brett either were injured themselves of played with third stringers all year because everyone else was injured. They also had a weak schedule, similar to what Philly had all those years when they lost in the playoffs after dominating the regular season.

I pick the Skins because I'm a rabid Skins fan :p , The Skins have the defense to take Alexander out of the game, and Seattle has an annoying habit of losing playoff games that they should win. :p IMO, this will either be a Seahwk win via blowout, or a Skins win in a close game. I'm going with the Skins defense to keep it close.
Are you seriously argueing that Shaun Alexander is too good of a running back to take his team to the Superbowl?

He's just going from historical figures, which is a common habit amongst sports analysts, he isn't saying Alexander is too good. I don't place much stock in such figures myself, but you can still make the argument.

No. I'm saying that most League MVP's get that award because they are pretty much all the team they are playing for has going for them that season. Usually, league MVP's come from teams that are not complete teams and they rely soley on the MVP player.

Re Shaun, Shaun Alexander is a great back. He's not better than Barry Sanders, he's not better than LaDanian Tomlinson, he's not better than Earl Cambell. He's on the same level with those guys, but even Barry Sanders couldn't get the Lions to the SB by himself, and if anyone could have done it, he would have.

Now, all that said, I'm watching the game right now, and I think Seattle is better overall than I had thought they were. I haven't seen that much of them this year, but their defense is surprising me. If they go on to win this game, it will be because of their defense, and if they go on to the SB it will be because their defense is good enough to complement their offense. If you don;t have a defense, you don;t get through the playoffs to the SB regardless of your offense. Colts couldn't do it, Rams couldn;t do it after their D went downhill, Vikings couldn;t do it. Right now, Seattles defense looks good enough though.

I wouldn't put too much stock in the Seattle D. The Redskins's offense was nothing to write home about. Yes, they forced a lot of 3-and-outs, but let's face it, Mark Brunell and co. didn't make a lot of plays or do anything to help themselves out.

If Carolina beats the Bears tomorrow, I would look for the Panthers to advance to the Super Bowl because they play much better on both sides of the ball than Seattle. Plus, if Alexander is hurt, Carolina will eat the Seahawks alive.

I really want to argue with the fact that Washingtons offense was anemic, but I just can't.

Yes we did beat the bears, unfortunately, even with alexander hurt, its evened out (if not going in their favor) now with Gamble, Foster, and Peppers injured, I ahvent yet seen what kind of in jury or for how long they're out for, but I doubt we'll take it next week, and if theyre not back by the superbowl if we make it, then we lose.

God damn. Anemic. Seattles D killed us. Stopped the run all together. Half way through the game we got cooley open... if ray brown was 100 cooley would have had a lot more yards. That last play where whats his name got his hand in on moss and stopped the reception. Good D.

Well BS if I told you last year washington would be in the last 8 this year, would you have believed me?

And now a joke.

Ben Roethlisberger died. When he got to heaven, God was showing him around. They came to a modest little house with a faded Steelers flag in the window. "This house is yours for eternity, Ben." said God. "This is very special; not everyone gets a house up here." Ben felt special and walked up to his house. On his way up the porch, he noticed another house. It was a 3-story mansion with a Burgandy and Gold sidewalk, a 50 foot tall flagpole with an enormous Redskins flag and in every window, a Redskins championship trophey . Ben looked at God and said "God, I'm not trying to be ungrateful, but, why does Clinton Portis get a better house than me?" God chuckled, and said "Ben that's not Clinton's house, it's mine."

Steelers vs. Broncos is going to be by far the best game this week. Two teams with two very good running attacks. Bell/Anderson vs. Parker/Bettis.

Pittsburgh
Carolina

I don't know why I'm taking two road teams in the Championship games, but I really hate Denver and even though they're 9-0 at home, I can't stand the thought of them going to the Super Bowl, so go Steelers!

I also think Seattle is just too suspect in a lot of ways (which were covered by the weak schedule they played) and Carolina is playing very good football right now.
