Alternate Method for Obtaining Demon Key
Yes, it does. In fact, it's even easier to edit a singleplayer savegame since there is only one character in the file... which means theres only one inventory.
I have edited countless singleplayer gamesave files including members of this forum savegames, it works every time. If you would like me to edit it for you, PM me and I'll edit the key in for you. I've gotten so used to doing it, it only takes me 20 seconds now...
Beest thou all thanked
The Hexed-"Cheat" to get the Demon Key that one will have hardly acquired in all the stress there with Valdane and his liberation is GREAT. That's what the net is for. WOW!
There's no problem at all with it, only that I had to search for 9B00 , for the second mentioned key, and replace that one, not the first 9A00, with that one, it didnt' work for me, maybe cuz I got the german version, so I wish you all 'Viel Glück' (and phorgiff my phaad inklisch!)
Just make sure you all search for your character's name in text mode, and for the Hex-Codes of the Keys in Hex-Mode, the upper field is for text, the lower second field for hex values, that is for the mentioned 'Hedit' Freeware HexEditor.
Maybe the necessary note in the Gamebanshee-Walkthru that one should pay attention to getting that INDEED 'daemonic' demon key (an unwanted self-persiflage of the only money-oriented money-givers of the GREAT game Dungeon Lords, cuz those programmers and designers were obviously put under unnecessary stress, the direct reason I'm not one of 'em) while freeing those thieves [they could be oneself playing "Dark Project" ] has been already included, my ink on the printer nearly ran out, so I didn't print out the Naga Section .-) - but maybe it's not there, that would really crucial.
Gamebanshee's fantastic, even the name pleases me as a gothic and country musician ("Ban-She").
Here one can see clearly that cheating is not a sin used at a time when urgently needed. There's another thread somewhere not here, where they mostly condemn cheating.
Of course, I did it myself on Version 1.0 or 1.1 and 1.3, for those versions there exist well-working trainers. BUT I didn't use that save for my own game, folks, hu! - really not, I can prove it, the values there I pushed to higher degrees in minutes that my current save.
Back then, some weeks ago, when I tried out a Trainer, I didn't yet know that raising one's intelligence results in lower prices for capabilties. Now I know that only those capabilties on the right window, where you rasie your weapon, magic, armor level and so on, NOT the attributes of one's character are lowered in their price of experience points to be payed.
So, I was stunned at the fact that triggering more and more EXP points with the Trainer only helps to a certain degree, after which rasing another level costs too much, cuz the intelligence is still too low. Now, I would of course also raise intelligence with the Trainer
No, sincere: The folks from the other thread I mentioned are partially right: It's boring when you're suddenly too strong for all the enemies in the game, can happen in Morrwowind and Gothic, for instance. But any trainer can help one to understand the evolution programming of a game!
Again thanks for the Hexed-Trick to correct a flaw, as I call it here, not a 'bug', of the game, because when one's in a hurry because of game-created atmosphere, and then EVEN something GETS - almost, thanks to Mr. Hexed! - UNRECOVERABLY LOST, that is a major flaw, yes, even if the Ghazbu is not necessary, only nice to have killed it, BECAUSE: I thought it was necessary, so ran out of the Soultomb and back to naga, where I coudn't find anything new!
Added Note: I just experienced most bitterly that raising intelligence isn't that helpful when you're at Level 27 with all your attributes at around 75 to 95 and you desperately need to upgrade your heavy armor and weaopnry skills from 9 to 10 which costs around 900'000 Points each, beacuse you need it to apply as a Lord, the upgraded class from the Knight.
Made the wrong decisions at two major points: First, I didn't save before fighting Voraatus, cuz I killed him before Ghazbu, cuz the door to Ghazbu was yet closed, before I came to Member InDoMiNaE's wonderful and most easy hint to cheat up the lost daemonic "demon key".
I should have bargained and have chosen intelligence, I calculate this would result in lower prices for skill levels of about 150'000 points for each single level upgrade, if say the intelligence is raised by an amount of about 10 points which is in itself very expensive - normally, but here, dear Mr. Voraatus does in fact 'save one some advancement points', as formulated here in our wonderful GameBanshee-Walkie-Throughie.
Here again, I rethink using a trainer, maybe even installing the game from anew and trying to use trainers for version 1.3, cuz I ain't yet seen a workin trainer for 1.4, and then taking the trained save back to the current 1.4 game, cuz I haven't got the will to spend useful time in endless Skuldoon- or dragon-sessions. Because upgrading the skills becomes too expensive with the ongoing of time in that game - sad, cuz I love the exploring in it, the adventure, the middle-age atmosphere and setting, but 900'000 for ONE single skill-upgrade? when there's no beasts to be killed matching this horrendous dimension of a price. Boohoo!
For the german version of DL, I post a link here which has already been posted elsewhere, it's 100% legal and freeware stuff about Trainers to be downloaded:
http://pc.cheats.de/cheats_nurtitel.php ... geon+Lords
English-playing DL-Gamers have not so much problems finding a working trainer for their version than we germanspeaking peeple .-)
now with the 1.4-Version.
Anyway DL is the new Zelda, merry springbreak evry 1...

Sure there is.
Backup your savegame.
Open it up in a HEX editor.
Search for your characters name, it will show up 3 times.
After the 3rd instance of your characters name, search for one of the following:

Thanx for the tip. I had already restarted my game once because I had picked the knight class instead of marauder. (I wanted to be able to use dual weapons early on.) I wasn't going to restart it again just to get the demon key. In my original game I had actually acquired the key from the thief in the temple, but when I went into the naga temple in my new game, I followed a not so helpful hint and released the thieves early. The thief with the key died and I didn't get it.

Try 5.7 million for a single upgrade (to lvl 10 heavy shield or lv 10 heavy armor). I even get learning bonuses in those skills due to my class and i have my intelligence in the 70's.

Hey, hi. Pleased to talk to another Dungeon-Lorder.
I tell you know that I downloaded the new 1.4 german trainer and used it for the following:
- in order to make the Lord, I set shields and armor and heavy weapons from 9 to 10
. raised intelligence
- raised trade skill (sorry, playing the german version, maybe it's called otherwise!)
- raised lockpicking from 9 to 12
-got me one more in dexterity
==> So, one can cleary see:
I was a brilliant fighter right from the start, I chose the 'Urgoth', how it's called in german, the strongest of em all, but very unable to use magic weaponry, there's always indicated a high penalty, as with any magic items or spells, raising the concerned magic skill level doesn't have any effect at all.
Man, I wanna play and not only desperately try to waste my time!
I went out, after a long period during which I didn't do so, but I still like gaming, but Thief is way better, it's not action- or 'melee'-oriented.
Anyway, a girlfriend and a guitar is a better thing, but I need both pc-gaming and other culture stuff with the pc as a contrapart to the daytime or rather active culture-doing (I am not an ordinary person with a job, I only do music )
P.S. To me with my 'Urgoth'-giant, it is indeed always utmostly funny to read the gamebanshee-walkthrough here and laugh at them having trouble getting through all the fights and beating those minibosses, Let's work together and not against ourselves, let's share our knowledge about both equally terrestrial and magical power - I got the slammin know-how, really, man, told I was unbeatable (no need no more for my 800 health apéritifs), and some of you know how to be mage or so.
anyway: I do wonder how long you want to wait for a single skill upgrade point. I do not stick to the rules of any sytem which is artificially made, I believe in nature, in physics - DL is a very cool game, and I went through it until now in irintabl without any trainer - I used one before, but did that on an extra save I did keep but not play or load anymore. So I had the choice to use a highly trained character, but refused it, cuz I didn't really need it. Now I recently did very much so, and consequently, I tried until three times to train 'reasonably', in plain words, only to raise the needed things, and not to alter the balance between my character and the enemy strength. I stuck to that and still do so.
Added Note: Just finished the game without even having had the time to apply as Lord! Very sad. Would have very much liked to explore further and solve more of those simple rune puzzles combined with those excellently designed enemies. Also, the game could have a simple 'Second-Run'-Feature like the first old Zelda for the Nintendo NES did in fact have: When one finishes the game, it rebegins with all the items at different places, but with the same map.
But the developers were just after the quick (and theefore small) money - they could have made billions, but only raised a few millions, I guess. If the would have added small ameliorations to the program, it would have been appreciated and bought by more than thousand times more!

Adding the Demon Key.
I've been trying to follow the steps posted on here. I downloaded the HEdit program and the one thing that confuses me is that I'm suppose to do a text search for the 3rd occurance of my characters name. I did that and then did a hex search next to find either the sewer key or the sewer bridge key I tried replacing the 9A00 with 3B01 and still didn't have the key. So I read how one guy used the code for the sewer bridge key 9B00 so I tried replacing that one instead and still no Demon Key. The one thing that I'm uncertin of is one person says do a text search from the start of the file till you find the 3rd occurance and another says press f3 2 times or untill you get the Data was not found message and then do the hex search. One the other hand I did a all out hex search for the code 9A00 and 9B00 and found so many instances that I get lost. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong at this point. I guess my main question is when searching for the characters name do you count the very first one which seems to be the text info the games shows as you name inside the game. Please in much need of help. I'm trying to see if I can do this with the key first before I try giving myself either Dried Homonculus or Deathlord leggins or the deathlord belt I have all the rest of the armor just missing them items to make a complete suit. Many thanks.
I'm playing the 1.4 version, and I killed all the Naga gaurds. Then tried talking to each of the captured guys and only one had anything to say. This action seems to be bugged. It works for some and not for others. I tried many different ways to get it and couldn't with my last character. THe time before that I got it easily. Your best option is to follow the excellent instructions by indominae and hex the key into your inventory. Save your game first of course.

Did the location changes for CE
I am getting an arithmetic overflow on the Steve's game editor and went back to this way because it worked for me on 1.3. I have done the same thing on my CE file and a couple of things are different. There are four instances of my characters name instead of three. Do I still do it after the third. I have changed it twice and still do not have the key in inventory.
any help is appreciated.

I have changed it twice and still do not have the key in inventory.
any help is appreciated.
Ther can be as many as five occurrences of the character name. Always use the very last name found!

No, the key is merely for getting to a super menace where you get about 1.7 million points for killing it !Enchantra wrote:Do you actually need this key for the main part of the quest? My thief wouldnt hand it over, ungratefull bum!
I will happily download the Hex editor but if it is not needed for the main parts of the quest and just for some treasure and a killing, can I just skip it?
