Play or not to play question

Post by Manveru »

I've finished both BG1 and BG2. Now I consider playing IWD or Fallout Tactics.
So, I have the question :

Is IWD worth playing ?
What is interestion in this game ? What is different when we compare IWD to BG or BG2 ?
So sayeh

IWD is a pure "dungeon" crawl. Its hack & slash all the way.

Create your own party, no intra-party dialogue (but plenty of quest talk etc.).

The emphasis is on fighting & spellcasting. There are *hordes* of enemies and unique tactical situations. You really have to think to defeat some of the bad-guys and quests/situations. Fantastic weapons & items.

If you don't like combat, you'll hate this. Also, there are no kits - this ain't BG2. I enjoyed it thoroughly though and there are factors which make up for the lack of kits. HoW has added many BG2 facets.

Thanx

As far as I remember I have IWD demo with my BG2 so I will install it and think if it is something for me. Yesterday I played Fallout Tactics demo - but I'm disappointed :( - I'm still waiting for Fallout 3 :D (Yessss, more bozar desolation :D ).

The only one problem is that I will have to buy Polish version ( Polish versions generally suck  ) either IWD or FT.

So now the small question for everyone from Central Europe :

Do you know any Internet shop that is located in country that is close to Poland ( Germany, Czech rep., Sweden ?) and has english versions of IWD, PT ?

(I really do not want to spend $10 for mailing cost to buy it in USA)
So sayeh

Fallout Tactics is fun but nowhere near as good as its predecessors. I would recommend Icewind Dale prior to Fallout Tactics, though both are great games. Fallout Tactics is also riddled with bugs, so it’s prudent to wait for an improved patch to come out before purchasing; whereas Icewind Dale has its patch already.
Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

Manveru, if what you want is an RPG with lots of dialog and in-depth character, consider P:T. Bioware's BG2 admitted that they learned a lot from P:T, so it may be worth your consideration.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.
