key does not work

I am new to Icewind, so please bear with me. I am trying to get into the tomb in Shadowvale. I have the key from the other crypt, but it just doesn't work. All I get is "this door is protected by a mechanism that ward against simple spells" or words to that effect. What do I do with the key (i.e. what buttons/slots do I use?( the computer just doesn't seem to recognize that I have the key in my possession.

There are several keys/ward objects in the vale. Get them all and you can open all the doors in the crypt.

You might want to check North of the statue, that enterance i missed first time.

Thanks, Gruntboy and Mr Sleep, but I still can't find any more keys. I see from the walkthrough that there should be 2--one from cave 4 (which I have, named sanctum key) and one other, from cave 1. But try as I may, I just can't find that cave 1 key. I killed everything there a while back. Is the key on a dead body? If so, have i lost it permanently and will have to start over? I pray not.

Hmm IIRC the key you need is in the crypt north of the giant statue, not the one marked area one on the walkthrough..Check all the nooks and crannies in the crypt. If you have Heart of Winter insatlled, hold down the alt key to highlight doors, containers and ground items.
