Irenicus' Prison (SPOILERS)

I cant get out of Irenicus Prison. I`ve gone all through it but have obviously missed something. I cant get through the portal at the end. It tells me I have to have an item to get out.
Any help, please?

check the walkthroughs on the main page. I think its a wardstone that activates the portal.
