Spells for Ranger/Cleric

Post by Minerva »

I read somewhere Ranger/Cleric will only gain access to Druid spells unlike in BG2, where you can get both Druid and Cleric spells. Can anyone confirm this? I have HoW installed.

I have Ranger/Cleric (multi) currently about level 6 in both classes, and only has Cleric spells. Am I going to lose them and gain Druid spells later on?

Thanks in advance. :)

Hi Minerva,

I hear that IWD/HoW lets you have both druid and cleric spells (check your R/C cleric - are you sure you just have cleric spells?) for a multi R/C.

However, If you dual a Ranger, you only get those druid spell levels you have already obtained. E.g. A level 9 Ranger access to level 1 Druid spells. Upon dualling and re-activiating, you will only get level 1 Druid spells - not the level up to your cleric's abilities.

But then I've only started a multi R/C in my most recent game and I can't recall what spells I have. :D

Hello, Grunty. :)

I'm sure they are cleric spells... At least, she doesn't have spells like Goodberry and Call Lightening. Actually, I always wonder this; how can I know if it's druid spells or cleric spells in the manual?? :o I only identify them from my experience in BG1&2, really...

I've got IWD for three months, but stopped playing in the middle of Dragon's Eye, as I was away from my own computer. So, when I loaded the saved game last Sunday, I couldn't figure out what I was doing and who're in my party... :o I think I'll start a new game this weekend. :D

I'll check my R/C tonight but I'm having a few beers so may forget. :D

Druid spells are, from experience, things like Goodberry etc. They also tend to be green in colour. Can't remember what "school" they are from.

Thanks, GB. It's cloudy but hot out there, so beer is important. Enjoy! :D I'm not in a hurry to play the new game, so I'll try to find what are the druid spells first. ;)

Checked last night Minerva, my Ranger/cleric multi has no druid spells. I presume the same rules for dual class R/C apply. You will only obtain druid spells commensuraet with your level. i.e a level 10/9 cleric/ranger (or thereabouts) will have access to level 5 cleric spells but only level 1 druid spells.

Thanks again, mod. :)

In that case, I'll create fighter/druid to go with ranger/cleric (one dual class and the other will be multi, I think). I don't like druid's levelling, but need some of druid's spells.

We are talking about Ranger/Cleric in IWD in Icewind Dale forum... My wisdom tells me not to spam outside of the SYM, Mr Sleep. :p

@Gruntboy: I searched a bit and identified druid/cleric spells. I'll send the list to you if you are interested in. :)

I'm pretty sure a R/C gets Druid spells from the get go. At Cleric level six I had Call Lightning and at Cleric level 10 I got Insect Plague. The Ranger half is only at level 8 right now, which I believe is before a single class Ranger would even start developing spells.

No I don't. Will I lose them once I install it? I also hear that a Conjuration's opposition school in HOW is Invocation/Evocation instead of Divination. Does anyone know if my conjurer will lose his invocation spells once I install HOW?

I don't know for sure, I never had a R/C before installing HoW. New R/C characters in HoW start without Druid spells. I would imagine that you would lose them since spells for clerics & druids are derived and not learned. As for your invocation spells - that could be a tough break. It would be a shame if the patch erased spells you had learned.
