New Game
I am having a hell of time.
Testerday I at least got video clips at the beginning and past first selection screen to the play screen then it crashed.
Today nothing
I reinstalled, repatched with both patchs. I then updated my video SLI drivers. That was wierd in itself.
Few questions
1)What is the command prompt that gets me into
Start Menu / Run / Diect X consol thingy
2)I am now getting a no video message when I am supposed to see icon trailers. No selection screens, but sound is OK. What gives here?
3)I had soem problems, I reset my refresh rate to high and my Graphic cards were unstable for a few. I went back two day to an earlier periode on my computer for a fresh start
4)Since all should eb fine but something is missing somewhere.

If I got right what you ask for, you need to enter "dxdiag" in the Run dialog

Hmmm....have you by chance ever unistalled the Python script converter that comes with Windows XP ?
Another member here had that problem, she couldn't access the game cause she must have deleted it at one point. It should be in your program/software folder.

I seen a python file in the game, but not in my computer files. It may not be installed or I don't know where to look. Can you go figure where it would be.
I have XP professional.
But is it for certai games and not used for others. Becasue all my other games are running really good right now.

It's a script, like Java...My Windows XP Home Edition came with a preinstalled Python version. It should be in your Program File folder on your HD. If you don't find it, try a search for "Python" on your HD ( or HDs ).

Lucita, are you sure Windows comes with a Python interpreter? I've never seen such a thing. Moreover, every application which uses Python usualy has its own interpreter (bittorent, openoffice etc.). However, I remember one problem from Bloodlines (or was it another Python using program, ehm) troubleshooting, which happens if you DO have system installed Python, if it is of the same version it's registry settings collide with those of Bloodlines installed one, however it is stated it's ok if another version is used (different registry keys)...
Eh, it would be a lot easier if all programs relied on (and required) a systemwide installed Python as it's in Unixoids.

Of course I am not sure...I bought an OS preinstalled computer with several software packets that were preinstalled too. All I know is that I have the Python thingie on my computer as long as I know....
I just remembered a thread posted maybe 2 or 3 weeks ago about a missing Python interpreter and the game didn't work...so I thought it might be the same thing.

AS for Python in my program no it is not,, but I see it in th egame file.
Should I down load it something.
As I said I can get to the opening paragraph then it reduses to the desk top.
PS> I set the resolution to 1600 by 1280?
That is too high for my monitor and it is causing a no video pop up and stoping the game, is there nay way to change this back in the options for the game, becasue for lack of video I cannot got there now?

Well, it was simply something which could happen if you have a Python interpreter of the same version as used in Bloodlines. Then the registry key for that Python version might point to another location, which could confuse the game to try to use that other interpreter and fail. However, this is an obscure and very specific issue, and I'm not even sure when and where I found out about this (I believe I might have seen that on the official tech support forum), so I wouldn't look any further into it, unless you specifically know you might have exactly that problem.

In the Bloodlines start menu folder there is shotcut labeled VTMB "safe mode". It starts the game with 800x600 resolution, for the purpose of solving the wrong resolution problem.

Well, my Cyborg Computer master geek and co owner and builder of my PC could not fix the little problem of start up?
I wonder if I have a bad copy, or my system is hopelessly incompatible, or I died and became undead and don't know I already beat the game at some point in my former life and just trying to run the game is vain and shallow memory of my former life.

has anyone you know got a copy you could borrow to check if its your copy that is the problem? also, have you tried disabling/exiting your firewall, virus software etc. (while not connected to the internet of course lol) in case they are causing a conflict - i know this happened to one of my friends a few years back with a different game

I'll make believe I didn't see that.
Patrick, please don't bump your thread. Anything on the first page is read by most people interested in the game. Bumping only annoys those who have others that deserve reading, too.
Also I was tld that the game is uncompatible with certain CD roms so as to install a cd crack. Does anyone feel this relevent.
I've never heard of a CD crack fixing a problem with CD-ROM incompatibility. On the other hand, there are quite a few CD cracks out there for various games that make those games unstable, because the cracks haven't been tested for a wide variety of machines. If possible, try to run a completely vanilla version of the game with as near to a vanilla system s possible. Get rid of any virus checkers, etc, that could be in the way, or anything else in the background. Just while the game is on.

Vanilla is a good one to try *any* game the first time, just to make sure you can get it up and running. If you can't, you've already eliminated a ton of problems associated with mods, resident programs, potential memory conflicts, etc. If you've already done vanilla on Bloodlines, I'm at a loss what to suggest. There was a time, back in the DOS days, when there were 3rd party memory managers that would let you work around something like this, becase they'd let you define a portion of your memory for the game, alone. Nowadays, Windows makes all those decisions.

No safe haven there. My new computer is off the wall, too, but it's no fortune cookie. I'm getting bugs I've never seen before and my last one was a measly 1.5 GHz.
