Final Fantasy X thread

Post by gothmetalla666 »

As of yet, I have not discovered any Final Fantasy X specific threads, so was wondering are there any other fans out there? I decided I'd make a thread specific to it, just to see out of general interest and for general discussion of FFX if anybody else out there is as addicted to it as I am.

If I've failed to see a thread specific to FFX, feel free to point me in the right direction and delete this thread, moderators.

So anyway, favourite character/s/aeon/s/npc/s?

And... while I'm here... (spoilers, don't read if you don't want to know things relevant to ending :) ) ...after the battle where you enter Sin and end up fighting Seymour for about the 3rd time (I think??) does anybody have any tips on defeating him? My Lulu has armour with Ice eater, Fire eater and Water eater equipped, so she is pretty well armoured against his elemental attacks. She also has "One MP cost" equipped on her "Magical Cactuar Scope" so that's all okay, and she also has the white magic ability of "Life" to heal her comrades! Yet I can't seem to beat him still... where am I going wrong? She is weak in defense of physical attacks, I know this, but more than compensates for this with her elemental abilities which all turn environmental damage into HP... Help would be good. Very good. :D

I haveta say, Final Fantasy X was prolly one of the kinda lame ones unlike the rest.

I mean, when you have FF 6 and 7 to compare this to, it's really no comparison. Seymour was really annoying, as was Tidus with his emo'ish like perspective and such (oh the worlds going to end with Sin, I'm no longer in my home, Jecht's
Spoiler
sin
, blah blah blah). Then there was Yuna, a melodramatic kind of person. Her voice was awful (the person who did it that is, didn't fit the character at all.)

The random encounters was set WAY too high for any final fantasy standards, which got really REALLY annoying after the first few minutes of them. The sync to the voices and such were totally off.

Sorry, FF10 is not my fancy.

*giggles* okay, well we all have our own views. *shrugs* I agree with what you said about the random encounters though, they do get a little annoying as they are so frequent, but hey, you know what they say about series of games...

Oh, and FF-12 coming out this year *yay* I wonder if it will live up to the standards set by the previous games? By the way, has anyone bought FF-XI Online, saw it in a shop the other day was pondering buying. Yes or no?

I've read rumors that FF12 is gonna be a single player game like the norm, which will not impress me one bit.

While I hate MMO's to the M@X, I also don't like cheesy lookin set characters, as displayed on many sites.

The guy character looks like a chick, I mean, come on.

It is not a rumours. FF12 will be a single player game.

Comes out on 16th March in Japan. The pre-order has already started in some shops, like Amazon.

So do you like any FF games at all? What is your taste of games, in general?

I am thinking going to Japan in the end of Febrary. While I have no intention buying the game, I'm wondering if I should stay there just to see the hype for laugh. :D

You could buy it, and bring it back and sell it for lots and lots over here on ebay to a very very enthusiastic FF fan who would be willing to pay an outrageous sum for the game... and seeing the hype will be fun for you too... I would love to go to Japan, I am thinking of taking a Gap year there before I go to university in 1 and a half years. Stupidly expensive, I bet, but worth it, I'm sure.

Well... Yojimbo... yeh, I defeated Sin to get to that bit in the first place using him, but I couldn't be bothered to make him get to overdrive again to kill Seymour

I don't know if you can run the game on the US PS2, though.
I'm in UK and I can't run Japanese games on UK console (bar portables). So I bought PS2 in Japan.
You can also buy lots of XBOX360 which didn't sell in Japan at launch in December. Well, it is probably too heavy to have lots.

I'll buy PSP when I go this time. :D

It is expensive in Japan, but not necessarily everything. But you do need to know some Japanese. Most Japanese should be able to speak English as that is the 99% choice as foreign language in schools, but they are too nervous talking to foreign people.

Some fans will go to any extent to get their hands on a copy of their latest game, believe me, I know ^^… even buying those thingummies you plug in to adapt it to UK whatsits… I do know what I’m talking about even if nobody else does ;) …honest…

Anyway, as for speaking Japanese, I am lucky because my 6th form offers a vocational core Japanese course in Year 12 (I’m in the UK too) which I hope to take during my A-levels. Language barrier solved… a little bit. I used to know a little, but that was mainly stuff I picked up from watching too much anime and lingering too long on anime forums…

Oh, and I really wish I had a PSP! :( my friend has one, he says it's the best hand held graphics he's ever seen. *sighs and drools* what a thing it is to have money...

As I said, I do like the final fantasy games, just not 10 and above so far.

9 was pretty alright actually, decent story line and all.
8 wasn't bad, but it wasn't necessarily good either.
7 was exceptionally good, and is a tie of my two favorites.
6 is also really good, and is the other tie. Go Kefka.
5 is pretty cool, what with the job system.
4 is awesome as I loved Cecil's dark knight character, but didn't really like the paladin.
2 is decent with the plot, and really good with character development.
1 is classic, and will ALWAYS be good.

So there you have it, I like every one of them 9 and down.

Pretty much any RPG that isn't too closed off and is a fantasy setting. That's including other RPG's that aren't video, like Dungeons and Dragons or White Wolf (yes, I know I said fantasy, but mage is close enough)

Aside from Final Fantasy X-2, X was by far the weakest installement in the series. It offered a subpar story and game system, and locked the play into far too linear a direction. Additionally, while the mini-games are typically dreadful, blitzball was even more so, with the controls being clunky and awkward.

The only real saving grace of X was the sphere grid, which even then, held too many ways to exploit.

For purposes of not trolling, I will not write my opinions on VII in great detail. Let us just say it is horribly over rated in my opinion.
