Un vraiment catastrophe!!!

Post by gothmetalla666 »

Oh la la! Un vraiment catastrophe!!!! :( *cry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!* Okay so here's the scoop... spoilers evidently here.

(highlight) I don't know what to do... in the middle of the blood hunt and everytime I go to speak to the Cab driver, the game now freezes. My earlier problem on a similar thing was resolved, now my game just crashes every time I go to speak to him. Please help. *near to tears of frustration!!!!*

FYI- I do have the latest official patch installed due to installation problems originally. Could any of this be hindering gameplay? Is there an unofficial patch which addresses this problem??? *desperate*

Overly frustrated, 15, London UK.

have you listened to the mp3 files independently of the game? thats the usual cause for a crash when speaking to the cab driver. as far as i know, to fix it you need to back up your saved game folder then reinstall the game. that worked for me anyway

Oh no... yes I have. I was curious and I did exactly that about 2 weeks ago...

What can I do? *panicks* I won't have to restart will I?

Will I absolutely have to back up my save-games and re-install?? *cry* ToT

just go to the program folder for bloodlines and copy the saved games folder to my documents or somewhere like that. then reinstall and copy the saved games folder back and it should work fine. don't know of another way to fix it. sorry

Could I not just wipe my WMP memory and recent files list?

Well, for future reference for others, I will try that and if it works I'll say. Using X-Cleaner to do it, there's an option that says: "Clear Windows Media Player Recent File List" and so.... yup. Maybe. *crisis over* Back in afew mins after seeing if it has worked.

Ah... absolutely not. Nope. Not working. :(

If I backup my saves and reinstall the game, will I also have to reinstall the patch I'm running on too?

there is another thread that discusses how to solve the problem with a crash after listening to the mp3 files - may help if you still cannot get it to work.

i think so. i'd suggest reinstalling everything to do with bloodlines, including the patch, as uninstalling may delete the patch too.

Okay. Thanks an awful lot. I shall do that now, I suppose, as I await Desperate Housewives to come on TV in 20 mins :) I just pray to some computer deity that Bloodlines doesn't reject my savegame backups upon reinstalling. I had to do something similar with another game, but it rejected my savegames even though I'd made sure I'd put them all back in the right folder blah blah blah... meh. :)

if you just copy the whole save folder it should be fine as i have had to do it several times. and you're welcome for the help. hope you get it working again - hate it when you have to do a full reinstall. its so frustrating.

just a last thought: make sure you install the same version of the patch just to be on the safe side with the saves working when copied back.

Another note: Uninstall/reinstall normally doesn't touch the saves unless you specifically tell the uninstaller to delete everything. So, while it is still wise to backup the saves, try playing the game immediately after you finish reinstalling anything. It is most likely you'll find your saves untouched. Only in case that doesn't happen, do restore your backup.

I usually do that all the times, for example when I stop playing a game and need more HD space. I just uninstall then reinstall it when I some day remember I could continue that game. Most games work like that, and I've done that with Bloodlines too.

(Another note - to everyone: DO NOT play those files with WMP! If you must play with those use a HEALTHY player. And preferably use that other one all the time and forget Micro$oft's abominations... err... programs)
ROMERO: If you should see any zombies in that time, you need to put them down. Just don't let them bite you.
PC: Why? Do you turn into a zombie if they bite you?
ROMERO: Naw, it just hurts like a bitch.

Oh dear...

*confused* okay, I just went to uninstall... it crashed. Bloodlines is no longer in my programs list on the add/remove programs list, but when I just put the disc in just now, I don't have the "install" option, only the play option. I also have the uninstall option, I pressed that but nothing came up...*utterly and completely confused*

Does anybody have any ideas as to what I should do next? Should I regedit it and remove all Bloodlines Files I can find except my save backups?

*********confused*********

Okay, that didn't work, it just flashed me its "Demoshield" thingie and did nothing after that. I tried to open my desktop link to Bloodlines as it still says it is functional, but it isn't and tells me simply: "Windows cannot locate the file". Bloodlines is still in my Start-> Programs menu. Should it be? I'm really confused. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!
