In the topic I posted about the problem, Gruntboy(I think it was him) suggested that it may be because I don't have HoW installed which apparently fixes that problem.

The first time I played IWD I had this party:

-fighter
-ranger
-thief
-druid
-cleric
-invoker

I had a very though time going through IWD and was never able to defeat Belhifet! Also, I didn't invest much time in their stats during character creation, they could have been better...

Second time:

-fighter
-ranger
-fighter/thief
-bard
-cleric
-conjurer

Much better; got to Lower Dorn's Deep, had collected all six badges, no problem. I thought to give IWD a rest, several days later my hard disk crahsed, lost all my saved games; all I had to do was going up the stairs to Poquelin and then return to Easthaven.... :( :D

Man, that happened to me. Got all the way thru IWD with my "all-rounder" party. Then loaded up HoW. Got to Icasracht and then saved a new game on top of it. Had to do the whole thing again from scratch with my female knights.

I just opened up IWD, which I haven't played since Christmas because of BG2, and found that I have Long Bow +1 Protector. Is this the bow ya'll are talking about? Or is it a different one?

Long Bow+4: Hammer
Damage: +4
THACO: +5
AC Bonus: 1
Special: 4 Attacks per round
Speed Factor 6

Any help?

Its a random item, often in Ilmadia's lair methinks.

There is a long bow +1 protector which lowers AC by 1 but Sleep's is much better. :D

(only really protects you from missile fire, since holding missile weapons in melee gives the enemy a +4 to hit)

That's the one I had, though I've sold it now since the AC bonus wouldn't combine with the AC Bonus from Dead Man's Face and I found the Composite Long Bow of the Hand which has better THAC0 bonus and better damage bonus.

You sold it! What? Personally i would just keep it for taking out spellcasters if nothing else :) Also reimporting it makes the first few areas really easy :) How can one argue with 4 shots a turn? ;)

She's talking about the +1 protector.

You were talking about the +4 Hammer (which rocks!). I was talking about both without being terribly clear. :D The +4 Hammer is often found with Ilmadia, IIRC.

From all you've said, I'm certainly hoping to find it. My Fighter/Mage/Thief currently gets three attacks with the Long Bow of Marksmanship and two with her Two-Handed Sword +4: Backbiter.

I've found that soloing a Fighter/Mage/Thief is quite fun and the combination of classes works well. An Improved Invisible, Stoneskinned, Mirror Imaged, Hasted Fighter is quite deadly. ;)
