Blood Hunt *spoilers*

Post by gothmetalla666 »

Dammit I always seem to get stuck... well just a question. After you leave your appartment in Santa Monica after talking to Jack, do you absolutely have to kill all of the vampires out to kill you? As a Toreador I've tried many times to just boycott them all by running using Celerity, but when I find the cab it tells me that I cannot speak during combat. Annoying or what?? And by this time, the vampires have caught up with me and begin to thrash me. I managed to take them all out once, and then turned to speak to the Cabbie, but yet again it tells me I cannot speak during combat. Frustrated at this, I went back and thought maybe I had to kill everybody, but then a Brujah shot me and caused me a Final Death. Is killing everybody really all that necessary?? Have I encountered another bug? Should I just hide... a lot... actually, that wouldn't work, because all the people with Auspex can see my scared blue aura anyway. Ha. Help again, please? Thank you. You guys all rock. :D

i've always had to kill them all. best thing is to take it slow and that way you usually only have a few to fight at a time. spoilers (highlight):
Spoiler
it makes life a lot easier than just trying to run for it (i did that my first game too lol and it was a nightmare fighting them all at once as a tremere lol). i also found that the best weapon to use is a good powerful gun like the automatic shotgun or the colt anaconda. also, there is a guy you can feed off in the car park bit if you need to top up with blood.

Thankyou. Will try this. Does stealth work at all? I suppose not, because of Auspex. *sigh* Ah well, thankyou all the same. Does anybody know of any way you can avoid fighting/killing them?

obfuscate works brilliantly, especially for stealth kills. but i'm guessing you don't have that. stealth does work well. i did it stealthily as a gangrel then only used my protean when i got surrounded. if you take it slow, you can usually take out at least one by a stealth kill before some others attack you.

Nope, no obfuscate unfortunately. I should like to play the game as either a Malkavian or a Nosferatu next, both of those have it. Otherwise, Malkavian's Demention discipline sounds a good laugh. Tremere's Dominate on the "Mass suicide" level 5 ought to be of some use in that sort of situation. Although I think I read the manual too much... Hehe. Ah well. Stealth and otherwise just killing everyone seems to be my only option at this point in time, as an all-rounder Toreador.

OK what follows is my usual tactic:

1. When you go out, you fight the three vampires that are waiting at the mouth of the alley.
2. Sneak up to the artgallery and enter the alleyway between the gallery and the garage. At the end, to the right there's a place where the bars are broken and you can enter the garage. There are three vampires in there (1 Toreador 2 Brujah), kill them as you see fit, but normally even with noise, none of the vampires from outside will come running to help them.
3. Leave Garage on the other side and sneak to cab.

This way you avoid at least half of the vampires (the ones in front of the Garage on the main street and the ones in front of the Asylum).
I think that God in creating man somewhat overestimated his ability.

Stealth is the way to go, not to avoid all fights, but as a means to improving the odds. Taking out one of three with a stealth kill is good.

If your ranged skills are up to it, an accuarate zoomed shot with the Jaime Sue can take out a Vamp with one shot. If you think you have been spotted but have the time, take advantage.

Definitely go down the side of the Art Gallery, it just makes life easier.

Toreador are probably the third best clan for sneaking. Although they lack a trance-type power, sneaking and using celerity enables them to reach an enemy before there is any chance of them being alerted to your presence. Better against Kine, but it works on vamps too. Combine with Auspex to keep a close tab on how alert the enemy is feeling, and it can work. It just takes lots of practice.

Most the vamps do not have auspex, which is helpful.

Because toreadors do not have ranged disciplines, they tend to have to spill a fair bit of blood. So if you have the odious chalice, it will probably be nice and full. Remember to use it.

SPOILER

If you have not realised before, do not try the alley ways around the Asylum. You will understand quite how nasty obfuscate can be...

I did it yesterday, stealth tactics worked more than anything except for the last three near the cab. It was excellent :) I love to stealth kill using the katana or the fireaxe. :D

Just to add my two cents:
I don't recall which, but you can access either the Pawnshop, Mercurio, or both during the bloodhunt. If you have money to burn, and you get into trouble, you can always expend the flamethrower ammunition if need be and just restock. Stealth is very useful over the course of the entire game, I keep my Dex high mostly for picking locks but it helps with sneaking and blocking too. Combined with the sneaking manual you find in your first apartment building (use the sell and buy back trick) you should have a high enough rating to get through most situations. The Jaimie Sue is excellant for sniping over long distances. Not only down the street but over barricades if you can find purchase on the offending dumpsters that hem you in. You should scorn open combat as much as possible, rather then barreling through hordes of enemies, try and eliminate as many through stealth and marksmanship as possible. I know I'm repeating a lot of what was said but it bears repeating.

I did it in a different way: with a Brujah I just ran into the cab with celerity (ignoring all shots and damage), and when I got near the cab I just killed those 3 vamps. I had some trouble battling them, but you can hide on an alley near the Bails Bonds, so you can recover yourself, then kill another vampire, hide again and kill the last one... then speak with the cabbie.. I got out Santa Monica killing just 3 vampires, with no stealth skill... ;)

Stealth is easy and extremely effective. However, I'd have to say the most fun I had with the Blood Hunt was when I played as a Ventrue. With Fortitude 5 and Presence 5 running, I strolled through the streets of Santa Monica like I owned the place. Those two disciplines, along with a couple points in Stamina and the body armor from Heather create a nearly impenentrable defense. My enemies did literally no damage whatsoever.
