Speaking of hard...

Post by Gruntboy »

No, not that type of thread Image

Thought I'd liven up the IWD board - what about some of them thar fights eh?

My favourite has to be against Maiden Illmadia. I don't even talk to her. I just set up on the islands in the lava - 2 guys blocking the bridge then the rest with grease/cloudkill and missile weapons. Then I pound those fire giants (must be about 8 of them), drawing them into the poisonous morass.

What an excellent battle! Can't wait for HoW 'call for allies' thingy. Huge battles much better than in BG2.

Other candidates:
The Lizard King
All hell breaks lose with the snake prisoners
The enitire Seldarine hand (especially the elven clerics/officers and archers).

Combat-tastic!

I hear you there gruntboy!
another tough one was Yxunomei as you have weapons that do very little dsamage to her.
also Malavon as she has the umber hulks and iron golems as her minions.
Also I just killed Belhifet 2 minutes ago the thing that saved my life was HASTE the greatest spell ever. My gighter hacked him up good while my mage was the pawn drawing away the iron golems around the arena and casting magic missiles at Belhifet thats what killed him magic missiles from a mage. Image

Congrats on completion. What do you think of the entire game?

Yxunomei/Malavon/Belhifet are definitely the 3 toughest baddies. Pomab is quite difficult, so are the thieves - Marketh's bunch.

Yxunomei was the toughest since you are at a low level when you face her. (I was level 6 to 8) and the only effective weapons against her were that fire dagger and the halberd. But now I am going through it again with my already completed characters so she should be alot easier with weapons like cairn blade and that +5 spear Image

I got lucky fighting her, she failed her saving throw for a fireball .I got rid of her with a couple of hits. BTW have you seen the graphics for the druid spell spike stones?

Malavon's and Pomab's battles were tricky (and a bit annoying) but the most difficult battle for me was in the Temple in Dragon's Eye.

My leader was a paladin and when we entered i sensed their aura of evil (this do not occur if your leader is a fighter). So i had to fight the whole temple from the start and their summoner was sending monsters over and over again.I had a hell of a time battling my way till i reached and killed him.

I actually thought Pomab was the toughest fight in the game. The final battle wasn't too hard if you use your two tanks against the baddie, constantly gulping all kinds of yummy potions. The rest of the party can concentrate on the golems and anything he summons. Malavon was easy if you take care of the minions first and then send in 1 tank with scroll of anti-magic shield.

Another really tough battle for me was the ambush at the entrance to upper dorn. Lots of stuff to deal with all at once and almost no way to take out the archers except with cloudkill.

The hardest for me was the 5 Crystal guardians...I would beat them down and they would come right back...then I finally killed Pomab and realized that he had to die first..
