Gaelen Bayle - Possible Spoiler

I can`t find Gaelen Bayle. I`ve just got to the slums district, walked around a bit, but no one contacted me. I went to his house and he wasn`t there.
I went upstairs and the guy told me he couldn`t sell me anything until I`d spoken to Gaelen.
How can I find him?

sounds like a bug, as he should appear as soon as you enter the slums for the first time. do you have an earlier save from just before you entered?

It was quite strange. As he wasn`t there, I got on and did some jobs. Then I saw him in the street and he told me that as I now had the money, I should go to see the shadow thieves.
The money was deducted and each of my characters got 45,000 xp.
This game never ceases to surprise me.

I recently played through, and for some reason, the major quest was fraught with errors. I got the key without paying, and was placed in the Chapter 3. Then later, I entered the house (to visit the merchant for some glasses) and was placed into Chapter 4, it showed the cut scene, and funnily enough, it ended with SPOILER
