What do you want to see and what do you think we'll get? :)

Personally, I hope you start at level 1 and they've implemented BG2/ToB kits. They're bound to create some Dale-specific kits.

I prefer HoW spells but the protection/piercing duels in BG2 were neat also.

I would like to start at level one, the high level battles of BG2 are getting old. I kits would be good, but will they stick to the IWD weapon specialization (putting points in a group of weapon eg. bows, large swords,etc.), or switch the BG2 style of specialization (putting points in a certain weapon eg. long bows, bastard swords, etc.)?
If nothing we do matters, then all that matters is what we do.

Good point - I hope they separate the groups out into individual weapons. I always feel cheesy putting ++ in greatswords and switching between bastard and 2-handed swords. ;)

lots of kits. the kits in BG2 were great fun, I'd like to see even more kits in IWD2.

a great abundance of bags of holding, gem bags, scroll cases, ammo bags, etc.

half orcs. half orcs in BG2 were magnificent fighters.

lots of wintery stuff.

Something similar to Heart of Fury mode is a must. Every game should have this.

I'd like to see more of the same. IWD runs far smoother on my system than any of the others (BG1&2), something I've never been able to figure out.

Dual wielding would be good, though a ranger who doesn't dual-wield is still a ranger, ala Robin Hood. Matter of personal taste, I guess. Specifically IWD-tailored kits would be awesome. I'd also like to see more weapon styles to customize your playing and fighting strategies.

How 'bout 3rd. Ed. rules?

Yes, there are some rangers like me, who don't dual-wield. :D I don't even have IWD yet, but I've understood that it's a game where the player creates all the chars. Am I right about this? Anyway, I think there should be even a couple of slots for NPCs. Not necessarily 5 of 6, but like in Ruins of Myth Drannor, 2 slots free, rest are created by the player. Or something like that, maybe more flexible.

More spells and more monsters, I would like to see more epic battles. Kits would be nice and some quests where you get npc's who join just during one quest.

I'd like to see the ability to 'queue up' more than one command at a time for a character. For example you could have your mage cast a spell, then move over to another area and cast another spell. that way you could set up how you want to fight a battle and then just let it unfold rather than keep pressing pause while you work out your spell tactics. just a thought

I suppose scripting is the compromise to what you are suggesting. A really :cool: idea sort of like the waypoint system seen in many RTS games :D
I'd have to get drunk every night and talk about virility...And those Pink elephants I'd see.

All my ideas:


Level 1 start.

Few magic weapons at fist, (like bg1), more later on in the game.

Big wilderness areas you have to explore (like bg1).

Better random monster spawning, where the monsters spawn at one point, then move to meet the party at another (I know this can be done, since I use this for my own mod.)

Kits that are IWD specific, as well as some bg2 Kits (Kensai =) ).

More of a wintery feel to the areas: maybe make an option to have special heavy clothes on that ward off cold, when the clothes are unequipped, you take a minimum cold damage every so often. Certain areas could be colder than others, and buildings could provide shelter from the cold. Different types of clothes could protect better than others (not to mention Cold resistance granting items, armor, and spells, which are a given and already in the game, though frequently not needed except at specific places, for specific enemies.)

IWD style traps, avalanches, thin ice, slippery ice causing you to fall down (all could be done very easy), giants throwing boulders from boulder tops, etc.

Engine used: Improved BG2/TOB engine with the IWD/HOW feature of showing the type of damage done. Need the TOB improvements for many, many things, chief among them using SpellRES for custom spells...

Dual wielding. Of course. (covered on Bg2 engine)

Have an option to set up camp like the old Ultima games did (ultima 6, etc). That way was much better, Imo.

Thats all of the top of my head, but I could think of lots more =).
