The Ultimate newbie question

Post by TheQuietOne »

I recently purchased MW and the two expansions. As I bought it as a PC CD-Rom (at least, that's what it says on the package), it did not have a manual. So here goes:

Are there any places in towns where you can go to rest? Every time I try to rest I am told it is illegal. Are there taverns at all? Somewhere other than the wilderness where I can rest?

Thanks

Most towns have taverns where you can rest, though they charge for the privilege. You can rest out of town in the wilderness for free, but you risk attack. In addition, you can kill the owner of a home (hopefully without being noticed), and take it over, yourself. Then you can rest in it for free, although it is within a town.

You can also join a guild to get access to sleeping in their beds. I always use the fighters guild when I'm in Balmora since I'm cheap.

If you don't need to sleep I would just wait, its legal and you can do it in town.

I wouldn't advise resting outside just yet, I figured something out about the Wilderness and Tribunal.

Read at your own risk as it's a spoiler-

Attacks from assassins don't start happening until you are out in the wilderness. See, you should join a guild or do some other suggestion mentioned other than the wilderness. THEN, go out into the wilderness and sleep for a good 20 hours or so. If your interrupted and a you hear a voice speak, then kill it, take his stuff, and sell it, as it's worth SO much money (or if you use light armor, keep it). Then you have/can buy some decent armor so that resting is less frequent.

Seeing as you are on PC, I would also recommend the countless house mods available. Check the Summit, under the "houses" category:

Many thanks for the replies, I actually stumbled on a tavern just a few minutes ago :o

Guess random wandering around Balmora can lead the way :)
