who to kill first?

Post by mitsuharu »

okay, I'm a new guy when it comes to NWN, but I have played many other forgotten realms games. Now, at the begining of the game you're told to go to the prison break to kill the *spoiler* mind-flayer *end spoiler* but I went off and killed the one causing the undead in the slums, and thougt it was much easier. why do they send you on such a hard mission first? Why not collecting herbs or killing some ruffian? Ah, it was much easier at the begining of Morrowind.
Rainbow writing! ooohhhh!

No? Why would I be on medication?

Firstly, what character are you playing?
Secondly, which henchman you hired?

IMO the prison mission is quite easy, especially when you have hired someone who's skills and abilities replaces your weaknesses. Also, what exactly made you feeling that the prison mission is harder? The killing the the creature itself is not that hard if you first persuade those guards to leave so that you don't have to kill them too.

Also, if you feel that you are going to lose a fight, remember to use the stone to get back to temple for healing. You get healing, enemy doesn't.

I know what you mean, I found the Prison to be difficult to start with also. The Gang leaders and the sorcerors gave my Rogue fits when I played it the first time.

The Zombies I think are easier also (depending on your class, they aren't exactly Rogue friendly after all) though really if you want to do yourself a favor play the Docks first. The boss can be challenging depending on your level, but you can acquire some good items in a hurry and without much difficulty since you can acquire them way before you have to tangle with the boss. Heck you can acquire the items and then go elsewhere and deal with the boss later if you like. Just my two cents.

Which one you hired as your heanchman?
As I said before, the difficulty of the game and especially the beginning is quite dependable on who you hire.

And yes, that's also quite good strategy, level in different places before actually challenging any bosses. But the game has been planned so that you start from prison mission, as lady Aribeth direct you to start from there and when you step outside first contact you get is woman from prison district...

spoilers:

you can always do bits of each area before doing the main quest in each - like kill the zombies in the beggar's nest first then go back and kill the prisoners, then maybe even kill the thugs etc. in the docks or the other area and then go back and do the prison itself. that way you would be at a higher level. as for the prisoner gang leaders - daelan is great for fighting those in melee if you are a non-melee kind of character, such as a sorceror or rogue with a bow.

Im a driud, with some (reletively) powerful spells, and I hired daelan so I have magic and a familiar (hawk) and muscle.

I never said the mission was difficult, I don't think it was too bad, but I just found that the slums was easier, as LDavis said:

I just thought it was easier, and a better place to start.
