i think you are right cos i always get the mission/bastila one in the same place (approaching the gates into the desert on tattooine)
You must not have Mission and Bastila together very often, because I'm pretty sure they have one of the shortest waits before you get it. I happen to like having both of them in my party (at least early in the game) so I usually get it right after rescuing Bastila on Taris while I'm heading towards the Lower City to talk to Canderous.

The only conversation I know of that comes faster than that one are the two between Mission and Zaalbar, I don't think I can even get out of the Sewers without hearing both of them.

i generally used carth and bastila together once bastila is around, and on dantooine i like to use t3 and bastila. i don't really take mission with bastila. combine her with carth or canderous a lot. i think there must be trigger points though cos i get the conversation in the same place every single game.

Well, if there are trigger points (and there must be quite a few), they must only activate after a certain amount of time has passed with two characters in your party, because I've gotten conversations in different places on the same planet (dantooine comes to mind, I tend to get lots of the conversations in the fields there).

If you put Bastila and Mission together in your party as soon as possible and run towards the elevator to Lower Taris, you generally can't make it too much past the doctor's room before the conversation triggers... I don't know if there's a trigger there or if it's all based on the amount of time it takes me to run there... I suppose I could check it out, it's pretty early in the game.

lol. i only found out about bastilas convesation with mission thru a friend. since i dont really like either one (i usually take HK and canderous/carth with me). so my friend told me, and i started a new game (cuz bastila was stupid and weak and got converted already  ) so i didnt have her a round with mission. and thru the 1st part of the game i took bastila and mission everywhere and i didnt get it until tatooine near the entrance to the dune sea. so who knows? maybe its like a random pick type thing that isnt so random...? *shrugs* eh

I found this whole chatting sequence very annoying... It'd always happen during the most unpredictable times... I'd be off to do some urgent errand and be halted by the two of my compainions chatting away.

Then it became more annoying when I realised every companion had their little chats, making it almost impossible to go outside with ANY combination without having to listen to their ramblings; and somtimes those 'ramblings' went for a good minute or so.

But fortunatly for me Obsidian decided to change this and all chit-chat with companion with compainion took place in the Ebon Hawk and not outside, allowing me to get my work done.

@the reaper:

yeah, i know what you mean there. i like the little chats but it gets so annoying when they have them just as you are about to run into battle, or when you just want to quickly pop across taris to pick up t3 and it takes ages to get there cos carth and bastila decide to have a really long chat lol. despite this though, i really missed the little interaction bits when playing kotor2.

First off thanks for all the posts. I've managed to find some discussions I didn't know about thanks to you guys.
Getting back to my original question about who talks to who though, I haven't seen Juhani interact with anyone, nor have I seen anyone post anything about her. I know she's technically an optional character, but didn't they program her with something to say.
Also, does Zalbaar talk to anyone but Mission?
Is there any dialog between Canderous, Mission, and Jolee in any combination?
When all else fails, try brute force.

Bastilla and Canderous...

I've actually triggered one conversation between them several times. Take Bastilla a with you when Canderous takes you to Davik's estate on Taris. After you begin exploring or whatnot, go to the throne room and walk around and he will begin the conversation with her, mocking her about getting captured by the Black Vulkurs and she will retaliate with insulting him etc...

I think some of these characters have little side conversations within a bigger conversation between the PC and someone else, that's probably where the Juhani and anyone else conversations take place, as well as Jolee and anyone but Bastila conversations.

After looking through the game dialog file, I'm pretty certain that the only "let's all stop and listen to X and Y talk" moments that take place are:

1. Bastila and Jolee (Jolee rejoining the Order)
2. Bastila and Mission (using the Force for fun)
3. Mission and Zaalbar part 1 (Zaalbar's breath)
4. Mission and Zaalbar part 2 (Zaalbar's grooming habits)
5. Canderous and Bastila (how easily the Vulkar's captured her)
6. Canderous and Carth (being a warrior vs. being a soldier)
7. Carth and Mission part 1 (How does Taris rank in Carth's eyes)
8. Carth and Mission part 2 (Mission apologizing for yelling at Carth in part 1)
9. Bastila and Carth part 1 (Bastila losing her lightsaber/Vulkar's catching her)
10. Bastila and Carth part 2 (Revan, the war, and the Jedi Council)

Actually...

There is a diologue exchange between Carth and Jolee. On Manaan in east central Ahto City going into the east section initiates diologue between NPCs and also in west central going into west. This is where I've viewed the scene, other worlds have different areas as I am sure everyone here knows so give it a shot...

Isn't there also a Canderous/Jolee interaction? I've heard it's quite funny but I haven't been able to trigger it. And I agree that the Bastila/Mission conversation is hilarious!

Aren't there any interactions with HK-47?

If not, then Bioware really missed out on something

Yes, there are but you need to have a high computer or repair skill in order to unlock more conversation options, if I recall correctly.
''They say truth is the first casualty of war. But who defines what's true? Truth is just a matter of perspective. The duty of every soldier is to protect the innocent, and sometimes that means preserving the lie of good and evil, that war isn't just natural selection played out on a grand scale. The only truth I found is that the world we live in is a giant tinderbox. All it takes...is someone to light the match" - Captain Price
