Patched to 1.4 - missing content ?!

Post by MiL »

Patched to 1.4 - new bugs & missing content ?!

I waited for 1.4 patch for ages to start playing this game. Did a fresh install, patched to 1.3, then to 1.4. All fine, says 1.4 on menu screen. The problem is I'm missing some content described in walkthrough here. So far I only played for few hours (Fargrove) and here is what I noticed so far:

1. I did not get singe "honour" point yet for doing quests. The walkthrough states:

Lady Loriea (Fargrove) - "If you're playing version 1.4/1.5, then regardless of your gender, you'll also receive 200 experience, 1000 gold, and a point of honor." - I just got gold!

Montre Falore (Fargrove) - "If you're playing version 1.4/1.5, you'll also receive 500 experience and a point of honor for helping Falore out" - just got gold

2. "Note: In version 1.4/1.5, you'll find a locked door in Augustus' sanctum(Fargrove). If you pick the lock, you'll find some barrels and crates and a level 4 spell chest in the room beyond." - Can't interact with door

Well, you get the picture...

It seems my game does not get properly updated to 1.4!? Or they wrote a walkthrough based on that modded German 1.41 patch? What is version 1.5 they keep mentioning?

Something is wrong here. I tried doing the clean reinstall of the game twice :(

Please someone help!

Just checked and this did not work either: "If you're playing version 1.4/1.5, then rescuing Augustus will also net you 1000 experience and an honor point."

This really sucks! Cant believe they broke the quest reward system with this patch!

New version of the patch appeared. It patches from 1.0 to 1.4 directly without need for 1.3. I'll download it and try with that. It's 140MB :speech:

I got the 140mb patch from http://www.patches-scrolls.de it was released today. Its ment to patch v1.0 to v1.4. The 106MB one was for 1.3 version.

They are mentioning 1.5 in the gamebanshee walkthrough. Where did they get 1.5?

Just reinstaled the game and patched it with 140mb 1.4 patch that was released today. Same stuff happens!

Cant believe after all this waiting for devs to patch it it's still broken. It seems they fix one thing and in the process break another one.

Time to run over this game with my car!

WTH is happening with single player RPG there days... This is probably the only title I have not played, yet. Now I know why....

After you uninstalled, did you search for any files left in the game's directory, first, and delete them? Some programs don't delete directories, and if you reinstall, they go back to old information. Don't know that this the case, here, but it's worth checking.

If it still happens, check out the developers' forums. I personally don't have great respect for them, but if it's as obvious as you say, there should be some discussion up there.

Yes, I did total cleanup after uninstalling. Even deleted devs leftover registry keys. This is just ridiculous!

It seems they just removed/broke the quest rewards or changed them in Fargrove.

Can anyone confirm that they got "honor" points for saving citizens in Fargrove prior to official 1.4 patch? Can anyone out there with the official 1.4 version check if they can lockpick doors inside "Seer Augustus’ Sanctum" (Fargrove).

God knows how buggy this game was prior to 1.4 patch :speech: Maybe I'm too demanding, but I like to get all the "goodies" out there when I'm playing.

Again, I can only suggest checking the developers' forums. Or have you done that, already? ;)

Dreamcatcher forum, Yes I did that first thing. Could not find anything related ... It seems not many people tried to play after final 1.4 patch. I knew the game was buggy, that's why I waited.

Pity...can't believe the Wizardry guy whatshisname stood behind this project. :(

BTW, I have to praise your website walkthrough! They did an excellent job...very detailed.

Yes SWCarter please clarify. In the walkthrough it also says 1.4/1.5 Emindor has cabinets in his tower that you can loot. Well with 1.4 there were no cabinets for me.
1.5 is the collector’s edition Mil. D

Sorry for the confusion in this. I put a note in the walkthrough introduction, but probably nobody ready it. ;)

I'm playing the CE, but I didn't play version 1.4. So as I'm updating the walkthrough, I'm trying to guess which things are new from the CE (which is listed as version 1.5) and which are new from the 1.4 patch. If I wasn't sure, I put "1.4/1.5."

I remembered somebody saying that the Davenmor Castle chests worked in 1.4, so I figured 1.4 might contain new chests. But it looks 1.4 simply has fixes rather than new content. If you notice any more places where I've attributed changes incorrectly, please let me know (either in the forums or via the mail links on each page of the walkthrough).

Now things are clear to me... @swcarter you are right, it really seems that 1.4 patch doesn't add any new content. So forget about honor and experience point rewards for doing quests, new chests & doors, furniture, trees, new areas etc... So far it seems they fixed spells, character customization, repair and identify, etc...

So is this game worth playing crippled like this? Me thinks not! And what are they trying to achieve with CE (collectors edition) except piss off people that bought the normal version. No comment..

And I was thinking to relax a bit by playing this RPG...

Thanks swcarter. Sorry I didn't read your note. Thanks for all the work on the walkthrough.
With the chest in Davenmore castle the chest were already there so they just activated them. I haven't seen any new content like a new chest or furniture etc with 1.4 that i can recall. It really does seem the CE is the game we all thought we were buying when we bought DL. D

Yes, seems all the new content is in the CE and honestly this seems to be all the Dreamcatchers fault not the Devs.
Devs respond to what the Pubs tell them is fixed/broken, Devs dont trouble shoot per say and they dont get to fix what they want to fix apparently.
Normally some fan would get pissed of and figure out a way to make a fan patch to add the CE content but I would imagine Dreamcatcher has pissed off to many people with this game.
THou it would be a slap in the face to Dreamcatcher whom apparently loves slapping us Fans and the Devs in the face if someone did extract the new content. :P
Trust me, most of the names I have been called you can't translate in any language...they're not even real words as much as a succession of violent images.
