hardware scan

Post by ianpaul1 »

Hi, I've just got the PC version of this game and had a few problems getting it to run. I managed to get it playing by downloading some drivers but the hardware scan still says that my Nvidia 9250 512mb needs Detonator 45.23 drivers to be installed. What will happen if I don't do this? (the game seems to be working fine).

I had the same problem several weeks ago. I too have an Nvidia 9250 w/512MB. The only issue I've noticed is that occasionally I will get dumped out of the KotOR2 program to windows xp for no reason. Its rare, but it does happen, so the way I combat against that is to keep several save games as I go along, that way I don't lose much. I don't know if Nvidia is the cause, but since that is the only thing the install program identified as a problem, perhaps that's it. The other thing I've noticed is that sometimes running a virus program in the backround causes trouble, so I turn it off while I play, then back on when I'm finished. That helped eliminate stuttering.

Hope this helps.

James.

Thanks for the quick reply :D , I had to lower the graphics settings in the configure menu to get it to load up but then it let me set them all to maximum within the game options.
How far have you got in the game? Does it play all the way to the end?

Only problem I found so far is when I walk through steam, it tends to slow the game down about 25%. But, as I remember from the Xbox version, there isn't alot of steam anyhow.

Are you supposed to see your character whilst in stealth mode? On the Xbox version you don't but I can see myself now with a white light around my body

steam is the thing that slows it down for me too but there are not many places where the game slows. on the pc version (at least with my card) you can see your character in stealth with kind of a white mirror glow around it.

It looks stupid to me. I prefer the Xbox stealth mode, looked like the alien from Predator.

After a long and painful search on the ATI web site I managed to download the correct drivers. If you need any help I will talk you through it.

Whereas my hardware scan tells me everything is hunky-dory, and suggests I use quite high graphics options...but the game barely runs, even with all the graphics options set to minimum, especially on Dantooine, Malachor V, and in the Jekk Jekk, to the extent that I can only move when facing in one direction.

Methinks that hardware scan is (insert expletive of your choice here)
