Yoshimo vanishes on me, how can I keep him? possible spoiler

Hi All,
on my 6th run through the game I really want to keep Yoshi and take him through ToB cause i think he is funny and a good thief.
I am about to go to Brynnylaw and thought i'll just leave him at the Copper Coronet but whenever i do he just vanishes, he does not turn cyan, he does not show up at the Copper Coronet (not even when I drop him right inside) he just vanishes.

any ideas? I am on a Mac in case that matters.

you can't keep yoshimo all the way through because he dies no matter what when you go to spellhold, even if he is not in your party, because of the geas put on him by irenicus.

There is a patch that may let you keep him, search for it in the ToB forum.

Even if you were to keep him (in unpatched games it is possible) there wouldn't be much point or dialogue for the rest of the game. Not to mention I doubt one could even summon him in TOB anyway.
