If you find him early in the game and he joins at level 8 he has no stars in Dagger.

BTW I found that Valygar's sword is a great troll killing sword - his sword gives 2 poison damage, and this can hit trolls even when they are down.

However he can't backstab with it (bug) and he is supposed to get a bonus of 2 to AC against slashing damage (slashing right) which he doesn't (bug).

Valygar is not a bad NPCV he just lacks the ability to weild swords efectively, i would stick with bows or spears for valygar.
