Stealth?? Why bother??
Playing the game, I found very few places where stealth is needed. And with the stealth belts available, why bother dumping more than 5 or 6 points in this area? What's the lowest anyone put in here & still survived the few stealth modes? I had about 5 myself & with the advance belts was up to 9 I think. More then enough for me.
Another wasted skill I noticed was demolishion. After 10 base, no reason to go higher.
Comments?

I've completed the game with only 1 point in stealth. There's no place in the game where stealth is necessary to actually win the game, though if you are trying to get your lightsaber on Naa Shaddaa, you'll need to overhear the 2 guys talking about how to rob Vogga. However, I believe that I've overheard this with only 1 point in stealth (plus whatever bonuses my stats gave).
In theory, item creation can require stealth; however, the only one I can find is a sound dampening overlay. And we use sooooo many of those...
The same seems to apply to awareness, btw; you don't seem to need it. Whereas in KOTOR you couldn't detect (or disarm) mines unless you had a reasonable awareness, in KOTOR2 that doesn't seem to apply. However, Awareness does at least have some use, because it's needed to make rather more items than Stealth, and it does bring up a few dialogue options.

or you can just get kreia to listen cos she has a reasonable stealth, handy if your pc has no stealth skill at all like mine usually do lol

I do the same...I only put one point of stealth in that skill...and that's it.
I have found however, that a high awareness has gotten me some really cool dialogue options...I first noticed it with Atris. You can also almost gain all the influence you need with Mira by having a high awareness (14+). As a Guardian, I only have 2 points, so i've been pumping awareness and persuade. Normally I have a high repair, because that gives you some interesting options in the game (T3-M4, for example), but given that other party members can get really high stats, when it comes to making lightsaber upgrades, I just have them do it. This way, I can focus on the skills that will affect dialogue options, which is important for your character.

I -love- Stealth. In KoToR 1, I was using Mission Vao and had soemthing like 50 stealth points. Plus, smugglers have their nifty little sneak attack ability, so you can rack up A LOT of damage before they even get their first attack in.
It's been a while since I played KoToR 2, but I do remember stealth run being a feat, which sounds pretty fun to me. However, I'm not sure whether or not Sentinels/Watchman/ Assassins get sneak attack, so I'm not sure how many points I'd devote into it.
but all in all, I think it's a fun ability, just for shock value.

I usually do Nar Shadaa pretty late in the game, so I have a tank of a main character. When I play LS - I level Mira up to 15 (the minimum for jedification) - which means Ubese are quite tough. The solution? Give her 1 point of stealth, an eriadu stealth generator and a stealth field enhancer. She runs around, invisible and lets the PC in. He chops everyone up...
That is the only level I use stealth in.
Except on Dxun where I use a stealthed Mira with 2 fully upgraded Elite Watchman blasters to get behind the sith. Then they get caught in the crossfire as I use Bao-Dur and Visas to chop them up from the other side...

It's always a good idea for Mira or Hanharr not to kill anyone before letting the exile in, anyway; the exile doesn't get the XP for anyone she kills. However, you can do this without using stealth, at least if you do Naa Shaddaa early one...just run like crazy...

15 is not the minimum for jedification. i regularly just leave my crew members at level 10 then make them jedi. you can make them jedi at any level, just as long as your influence is good enough and the dialogue has progressed far enough. and your main character does not have to be level 15 either, as i regularly turn atton into a jedi before i even get to the prestige classes.

Stealth...
I've played a Sith Assassin and using stealth can be fun in alot of situations but offcourse not necessary to succed. For example when fighting the Ubese Warriors i sneaked in with my Char. and used the security system to electrify and gas them to their own death, also opening with stealth attacks against them (with uppgraded weapons) will mostly result in instant death. Also you can use it to quickly run through Kreia's Academy without having to fight her mindless thugs... allowing them to get ripped into pieces by the following explosion instead.
Demolision is as well not necessary, but it's alot of fun to for example place mines outside the Droid Tank's door at the 'Taris Hidden Base'. If your a little cheesy you can also use the against bosses such as Nihilus for one quick Oh-Noes-I-Got-Blown-Into-200-Pieces-Tactic. Also is it alot of fun to blow Kreia into pieces... and Sion, Atris and all those Jedi Masters. Summary: You can turn one messy fight into a big 'Kahboom!'

Of course, you don't need Stealth- as well as you don't need Computer Use...
It's a pity that you should be able to get along without too many skills, just mowing through your opponents. But every skill can be useful, if only for certain characters.
In my opinion, you should get XP if you manage to sneak past one of the many armys that stand against you. It's a shame that you have to slaughter them to get XP, as this makes Stealth indeed a questionable choice.

You can't get into Mandalore's room on Dxun if you don't have a good stealth skill, aslo you can't get these items if you don't have a 30+ in Stealth:
Superior Nagai Grip
Attack Modifier: +2
Defense: -1
Upgrade: Melee
Prerequisites: Stealth 32
Quadranium Edge
Damage Bonus: +2-12, Slashing
Upgrade: Melee
Prerequisites: Stealth 30
Targeting Scope Mark IV
On Hit: Slow 25% Chance, 3 Rounds, DC 22
Damage Bonus: +3, Energy
Upgrade: Range
Prerequisites: Stealth 32
Flexible Underlay Mark V
Bonus: Max DEX Bonus +3, DEX +3
Upgrade: Heavy Armor

you can use a different character to get into mandalores room and make those items for you - i typically increase kreia's stealth etc. as she is pretty much useless for anything other than making things or doing the odd bit in stealth in my opinion anyway lol (she never seems to last long in straight fights)

Of all those upgrades, I only had use for the scope. I don't need melee upgrades as I don't use melee weapons. Same thing for heavy armor.
Getting into Mandalore's room without using Stealth is easy. Let Mandalore go inside and pick his stuff before you board the 'Hawk.
It's one of the few things Mandalore's good for.

Yes I too would like to know where and when Stealth is a good place to use it. I myself in my file have spent quite a bit of points on my stealth and I have even invested in Stealth Run as I am training to be a Sith Assasin. Though I haven't used it yet. When and where am I able to use such a skill? Am I able to use it when in a fight? Or must I wait 'till a certain time?
Highlight here:
Spoiler
1. I found it useful at the begining of the game, were the room is filled with mining droids, my characters not good at combat so I used steath to activate the console deactivating the droids, and turning them on HK-50 when the time came.
2. On Nar Shadaa in the Bar the are two npc's talking about the dancer girls for vogga, in the dock section there are two thugs talking about how to get into Vogga's secret room, you can only use stealth here otherwise you'll never find them out.
3. On Dxun Moon in Mandalores room, you can use mandalore if you want by opening the door, but you'll miss out on a stealth check/security check which gives small exp when opening the door.
