release date

Post by p_fisher »

What is the status on the release date?
I saw at the PCGAMER that the last known release date was late 2001 or early 2002. Is the release date still Q2 2001 or what?

I wouldn't expect that to move closer. Remember, they've got the BG2 expansion pack to push, and they're not about to release it anytime close to NWN.

Why not?
I'll still buy both, as I'm sure all of you will.

Three months apart isn't bad. I don't think they'll wait until the end of the year. Interplay has some other hot titles to push, and an advertising budget can only be spread so thin. There are also some competing RPG titles which may hit at that time (rumor has it).

I'm guessing NWN will be a September release *if* they hold to a Nov/Dec release date for Torn. They want a clear window where these two products aren't in competition with one another. If NWN is out in September, that gives them plenty of time to sate our RPG lust, before looking for something new around the holiday season.

@Craig, quit spamming this topic! :D Is nothing sacred?

Anyway, latest confirmation from Interplay claims September. ToB should be gold within the next week, perhaps two; ditto, Arcanum (though that doesn't go on sale until September).

No announcement like that at E3; I visited Interplay's suite, and they were suggesting latter 2001.

I didn't like hearing the news anymore than you, but don't say it didn't happen.

I've read the official announcment they made regarding NWN at E3 at a couple different places. Don't have a link for ya, but with a little hunting you could find it.

As for the Interplay site, well they are a little slow at updating arn't they? Especially with future releases... give it time.

about that march 2000 release date. i heard and read the same thing somewhere. i can't find the links and stuff for it(was a while ago), but i believe they said it was pushed back to 2002. i THINK there was some news posted on gamespot, but can't be sure. i just check avault and found nwn on the 2002 release date. however, i can't find the article about the date being changed still. here is the link for the scheduled release date though.

scroll ALL the way down of the webpage and you'll see the 2002 releases.

I can't wait! NWN is going to kick some ass! Best RPG ever (except for the BG-saga)!

Interplay's website says spring 2002. I read somewhere though that some people who claim to have inside information believe it will be released earlier.
