I think halflings look playable now with their skinnier look in 3rd edition..... I couldn't imagine a pudgy weak little fat guy doing anything gracefully in 2nd edition...
But I will still try and bully the little halflings..... (in a year or so)

They got a much needed make-over, that's for sure. Heck, they might even be cool now!

Its a dangerous world out there for those little ones.... reminds me of the time i got polymorphed into a kobold and some crazy cleric/thief came chasing after me shouting "I'm gonna cream you!"..... 'Twas a bad day that was....
Rogues aren't the only good thieves. Well-prepared mages with Invisibility, Knock and some sort of teleport will do fine if they manage to avoid the traps (which isn't so hard if you teleport through walls instead of walking down hallways).
