Citadel Ithorian Battle
Citadel Ithorian Battle
I've just slogged though the most vicious battle, so far, in this game. Way harder, I think, than any battle in this game so far. It was also harder than any battle in SWKOTOR-I that I can remember.
After coming back from the Czerka mission with B-454, I get a sudden alert that the Ithorians are under attack. I figure, okay, I'll bail these guys out. I didn't expect the hell that was about to come.
So it's just me, versus hordes of droids and mercenaries that are ten times tougher than any enemy that I have faced so far. I can barely hit them with ranged weapons. When I try to use my blades I miss consistently and they slap me around like a red-headed step-child. Where did these guys come from?
From the beginning, I had to resort to running around like a pansy until my health or force powers returned so that I could maybe get in a force push or get in a lucky shot or two. My final enemy was against a some woman with blades and she was kickin my ass. I'm supposed to be a former Jedi? It took me about 15 minutes just to beat her.
Was this the experience that other people had?
What happened to Atton and Kreia? It would have been nice to have a little help.
Why were these enemies so tough all of the sudden? Did I miss something?
In all of my nerdy game playing days, this was the most unexpected Pearl Harbor situation that I've had.
Am I alone? Did anyone else find this battle especially difficult? I'd be happy to hear anyone else's horror stories.

i found that battle no harder than any other reasonably big battle. if you take heavy blaster fire, just activate an energy shield. if you keep missing, use a stim injection. what class are you playing? as a consular with highish wisdom and charisma i just used force powers on them (i admit i was ds though lol) and as a sentinel i just went a combo of defensive lightside force powers and melee. just out of curiosity, what level are you at - i usually do most if not all side quests on citadel station before going after the droid so i could be at a higher level than you were. (i like to do sidequests before main quests - its just how i play lol)
if kreia and atton were not in your party, then you could have just gone to the party selection screen and added them it also helps a lot in this game if kreia is on jedi support (make sure you give her loads of buffing powers) and when she buffs herself up, she buffs you up too - quite handy sometimes.
spoiler about a battle you have not got to yet (so highlight):

the battle that i found the hardest on the telos part of the game was the one on the surface itself in the main mercenary camp thing (if you go charging in and end up having to fight them all at once it is quite fun to say the least lol)
As Mr Sir says, your main mistake was forgetting to put Kreia and Atton back in your party before wading in! Another good tip is to set everyone to 'Stationary' in battles like this with many enemies in several rooms, to stop them charging off alone into a room full of blasterfire without the party leader and getting killed. This tactic is even more important in the battle described in Mr Sir's spoiler. (though of course this does require that you pause frequently, change characters and move them manually)
Not meaning to state the obvious, but presumably if you can't hit them it's because their armor class is high and your attack low. You need to raise your attack. Some methods of doing this are:
1)to cast Battle Meditation (+2 to attack),
2)to take stims. Take Adrenal Alacrity if you are using blasters, Adrenal Strength if you are using blades (unless you have take the feat 'Finesse: melee weapons' and are using your DEX for your attack bonus)
3) to cast Force Valor (which increases your physical attributes)
4) to put on any items you have which inrease the relevant attribute (STR if you are using melee weapons, DEX if you are using blasters)
5) to use a single weapon rather than two, avoiding the attack penalties of double weilding
The Force power 'Slow' may also help you to hit them as it lowers the enemies DEF if they fail the saving throw (which at this stage in the game they probably will some of the time)
If you are really having trouble hitting them, remember that grenades and mines take no notice of defence or attack

Lest you feel stupid, a lot of players thought that you were meant to go it alone - I certainly did. The trick is simply to go to the group selection screen and add Atton and Kreia back in; after that, the battle should be of average difficulty, whatever strategy you use. I ran into the same situation and got exactly the same feeling as you did - except that I wasn't able to defeat the final group of intruders at all.
If you DID beat the whole Czerka group on your own - CONGRATULATIONS! You won't face anything nearly as tough during the whole remaining game.

Thanks, guys.
I got used to only modifying my party when I leave the Ebon Hawk in the last game - not from the party selection screen when travelling.
I guess there is something to be said for beating all those guys solo-style. Of course, the desperate and wimpy hit and run ... and run and run way that I used to accomplished this was hardly heroic. My character is probably the laughing stock of all the other Jedis. I'm going have to do that battle again. With help this time, of course.
Well, too late. It didn't even occur to me to look for those two in the party selection screen. I guess I figured they were waiting for me in the transport ship that I was heading for when I got the distress call.Lest you feel stupid...

Ah-ha, a masochist. Well, I tried to warn you.ok, so tried that battle solo on difficult...
Like I said before, there wasn't anything impressive about my victory here. I spent most of the time hiding behind walls, retreating, and running around to restore hit/force points. The only hope I had was to isolate one enemy at time and slowly pick them off. I tossed in a force swirl (or whatever it's called) now and then, because that was the only way I could do any significant damage.
To sum it up, it was frustrating and took a very long time.
I went back tonight and fought the battle again. Unlike you, I tried to make it easier, so added Atton & Kreia in my party. It was a piece of cake. Well, maybe not a piece of cake, but compared to the first time, much easier.
This might just be my imagination, but it seems like when I slugged it out alone, I received more items. The 2nd time through, I think I only found remains 2-3 times. It seems like I got more the 1st time. Do you get more swag from battles by fighting short-handed?

Major Spoilers for KOTOR I
My first time playing the first game, I had no idea what i was doing. If I remember right, I played a sentinel (thinking, good balance, right?) but then focused entirely on force powers. I sailed through the entire game zapping people with force lightning, thinking, "Man, this game's EASY".

Then I get to Malak.
Turns out force powers are pretty much useless against him.
And I had, like no melee feats.
I ended up using the "run and run and run" method as well, constantly using force speed and throw lightsaber. Now, every time I hear a reference to Revan being this great Dark Lord of the Sith, I keep laughing to myself, thinking about the way I played him. Essentially he was a nerd fighting a jock by running away and throwing books at his assailant.
(That brings back memories...)

You can't fight evil with a macaroni duck.
I think they're removed automatically once B-4 finishes his mission.wing wrote:i never even had them removed i always thought it wasnt too difficult of a fight. atton with a blaster, me and kreia with vibroswords. it worked pretty good every time i did it
I found Telos really frustrating, playing as a Sentinel (no lightsabre) was really tough, especially fighting the mercs when you leave Citadel. It was really silly, taking on the mercs and the creatures I never seem to get a single hit with my vibroblade! if it wasn't for Kreia, I would have never have gotten off the planet. Really annoying...the Exile's supposed to be a Jedi yet s/he can't hit a stationary target.
Of course that does change the more you progress in the game and gain more XP.
