Random Hunter ***Possible Spoiler***

Post by yrthwyndandfyre »

I just bumped into something that I've never seen before. To set the stage, I have no masquerade violations, max blood points, and only one point from max humanity points, so this is not my fault.
I popped into Santa Monica, went into the alley by the Asylum, and was attacked by a torch-weilding maniac. Presumably, this was a Hunter.
Surprised? Not just a little. I beat the hunter to death, and then, since I had apparrently beaten a civilian to death in the street, I ran from the cops and hid in the sewer until they gave up.
So, a heads up for everybody out there, you can be attacked by a hunter for no obvious reason - just a random incursion.

Thats just out and out Vampire descrimination man! I bet if you ran past a cop on the street while Flamey McHunter was attacking you, he'd do bugger all about it as well!

;)

I got the distinct impression that these cops are not above Vampire Profiling. It's probably not really high on their precinct's list of behavioral modification programs, either.

As I never saw a torch-wielder until the unofficial patches came out, did one of the patches add a random chance that a hunter would come after you, regardless of your masquerade violations (or lack thereof)? I never went through all the "readme" files for all the patches. I haven't had that happen to me (yet), but I think that it wouldn't be all that unrealistic (overzealous hunter uses "Law of Suspect" and goes after a random pasty person with pointy teeth who's only seen out and about at night just in case that person is actually a vampire).
Death awaits you with nasty, sharp, pointy teeth.

I'm not a heat-seeker. I'm still using the V1.2 official patch, so unless it comes from before that, no.

Wow, you sound just like the old days on the White Wolf Role Playing Digi Chat... Make a perfectly mortal character, slap a "Vampire: The Masquerade" icon on and put "Pale" "Aloof" or "Cold" in your descrpition and just wait for the idiots to line up to be the first person to kill you.

Well done! You slaughtered that random Emo Goth, you big brave man!
