Best Picture: Brokeback Mountain - A lot of people I know thought this movie was the best they had seen in it's genre for a while, so it must at least hve some chance.
Animated Feature Film: Tim Burton's Corpse Bride, Wallace & Gromit in The Curse of the Were-Rabbit - These two will be close, but I think some of the subtle humour in the second will be the deciding factor. Althhough the first put forth a good showing...
I'm going to stay out of the other categories though, for my own good.

These are my guesses of what will win. I will address what I think should win when I get to see a few more of the movies - several of them have only been released over here in the past week or so. Hopefully I will see Syriana, Good Night, And Good Luck and Capote this weekend.
I do think Brokeback Mountain has the momentum this year. Good Night, And Good Luck I think is probably a bit too political to win the big Oscars. I really hope Crash doesn't win best picture, because I thought it was awful.
I think Wallace & Gromit is a shoo-in for best animated feature, although I loved Howl's Moving Castle. It's not as good as Spirited Away, which did win an Oscar, but still worthy of award.
Edit: And I hope Keira Knightley doesn't win an Oscar for playing a posh English girl - that's not acting! I can't believe she was even nominated. I don't think it's possible to underrate her.

Come on Georgi give Keira some credit, Elizabeth Bennet is one of the most famous and beloved characters in western literature and I think she did a remarkably good job of portraying her. You can make the argument that she isn't all that complicated of a character (she's no Hamlet I know), but still : it's a minimalist role of sorts but those can be the hardest to play sometimes. Anyways, that's just my take but I thout she did a darn fine job: probably not enough to win (Reese was sublime) but I think she at least deserved the nomination.

Wow, shock Best Picture award - I don't think anyone was expecting Crash to win, were they? I am disappointed with that.
I didn't get to see all the films I intended to at the weekend, but I did see Capote, and I think Philip Seymour Hoffman's award is well deserved and overdue - I can't think of a bad performance from him.

I finally got around to seeing Good Night, And Good Luck last night, so I have now seen all five nominees for Best Picture, and I have to say my pick would be Good Night, And Good Luck - what a wonderfully compelling piece of filmmaking. And much as I think Philip Seymour Hoffman deserves an Oscar... I think my vote would go to David Strathairn's performance.
