Hey Zelgadis, don´t bother! To make a decent portrait by your self you´ll need a palette of I don´t know how many colors and it´s still gonna be terribly hard to make something that doesn´t look like something outta kindergarten! Unless of course you mean really drawing something (on paper) and then scanning it. Still, this way you´d also need alot of practice before you´ll get a decent result. I don´t mean to be a spoil sport but try to find a nice portrait on the web or in magazines and use that one.
Please do. I have close to 10 mb of pics from BG1 and 2.....i will have to start decidingOriginally posted by Xandax:
Ì belive it has, I recall seeing size mentioned somewhere, but for now I can't find it - I'll keep looking

Not that well done? I believe you did a great job from looking at the pics. I have PaintShop Pro and mine still look like 1st grade children stickmen pics.Originally posted by Garcia:

To use your custom portraits, doesn't everone have to have a copy? I mean, i believe noone but you will be able so see your protrait.
The poitrait would be placed on your computer, and properly sent through the game to the people needing to see them.
Otherwise think of Argyle - if all 100+ members should have each others potraits, that wouldn't be effecient.
But I still haven't found much additional information, but am still searcing the net, so I can provide better answers

I found this quote on one of the boards, this would hopefully explain much
From the FAQ:
3.10 - To what degree can I customize my characters?
(cut from the middle of the paragraph) As with Baldur's Gate, you will be able to select character portrait and sound sets from our extensive library, or even import your own.
3.11 - Is the format of the posted character portraits final, so that we can start making our own?
The portraits in Neverwinter Nights are 110x170 pixels, the same size that we used for the large portraits in Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate 2. They are stored in 24-bit *.bmp format.
And directly from Trent Oster:
Custom portraits: To display custom character portrait, the player will have to download them. When you join into a game and your character has a custom portrait, the character will first appear with a stock or blank portrait while the client uploads the portrait to the server in the background. The game client will have an option to download custom portraits or not. If the option is on, the portrait is downloaded to the client and displayed. If the option is off, the portrait is ignored and a default is used.
I found this quote off of a search on Planet Neverwinter (www.rpgplanet.com/planetnw)
