need a little advise:::CAUTION SPOILERS!!!!
hey guys i stoped playing baulders gate for about 2 years but figured id play again so i have a few question....(A)wot is the best wepon in that game and (B)wot is the bast armor, clock, helm, shield, boots, necklace, rings,or anything else i might have forgot "EQUIPMENT WISE"........o and one more thing this is totally based on ur thoughts wot is the best party.
need a little advise
Wow, this is going to dredge my memory...
You might want to stick 'Spoiler' in the title, I expect this thread will end up with a few.
Well, my post does anyway.
Do you want item locations too? I won't include those yet.
Best weapons, Varscona (the Longsword +2 with bonus cold damage), Throwing Axe +2 (it's a returning missile! ). Kondar with it's bonus vs Shapeshifters is handy too.
Armour: Ankheg Plate (Good quality and lightweight), the Platemail +3 found in Durlag's Tower for the same reasons as the Ankheg Plate, though even better.
Cloaks, there's a Cloak of Protection +2 somewhere I think and Cloak of the Wolf is good too. Nymph's Cloak provides a useful Charisma bonus while equipped.
Rings, the hard to find but definitely worthwhile Ring of Wizardy, the Rings of Protection +1 dotted around the game are handy too.

If you go to th BGI part of gameBanshee you can get a good handle on all the equipement and where it is. As far as best party that is very subjective it depends alot on your style of play. I likeall kinds of parties makes it lots of fun to try different ones and in the end they all become powerful. But if I wanted to run the most powerful party I could it would probably be:
PC-Dwarf Fighter
Kivan
Coran
Viconia
Imoen-Dualed to specailist mage after 100% in find traps
Edwin
You could have Kaigen early until you got to Coran and then if you wanted two dwarf fighter you could boot kivan at that piont but I feel that the two most powerful snipers are better to have. Also with th guantlets of ogre power Coran becomes a powerful backstaber.

Once again time to give someone the boot to make room for Coran. LOL
Ahoy, spoilers ahead!
A) I myself is very fond of the long sword +2 which you obtain from Greywulf at Nashkel Mines, but statistically best is Drizzt's scimitars (both +3, though one gives +2 AC and the other 50% fire prot, IIRC). Also there is a two handed sword +3 to be found in Durlag's Tower and Spider's Bane in Cloakwood. Essentially best is Drizzt's blades, however, atleast IMHO.
B) This is a very subjective matter, but I'll give you my opinion(s):
- Armor: The Shadow Armor (bought) in Beregost is nice for a thief and Drizzt's chainmail can be worn by spellcasters and thiefs alike. On the heavy armor list, I personally have Ankheg Plate Mail on the top, along with the plate mail +3 found in Durlag's Tower.
Robe of the Archmagi (good/evil/neutral according to AL) is the best robe to wear.
- Cloak: Not my coup of tea. Somebody else will have to complement here. (Edit: though Cloak of Misplacement is good.)
- Helm: Helm of Balduran found in Baldur's Gate, though Kiel's Helmet in Durlag's Tower is good too.
- Shield: Large Shield +2 in Durlag's place, and Kiel's buckler (same location) if the first one is to big for ye.
- Boots: Boots of Speeeeed. They'll never see you coming.
- Amulets: Same as cloaks.
- Rings: Definitely the insane Ring of Wizardy. Best item in the whole game, IMO. Also Ring of Protection (+1 and +2) for non-mages and Ring of Holiness for your priests.
Not on the list, but very good anyhow: Gauntlets of Weapon Expertise. +1 to THAC0 and +2 to damage is not so bad.
Also, if you think I'm just babbling, there is always the equipment sections on the Baldur's Gate site here on the page.
Edit: Woha! When I started to write this post, there were no answers in the thread. Took some time to type and recall I guess.

Yes that is why the fullplate armor is the best in the game better than the Ankheg Plate. You can use an amulet, ring, or cloak of protection with FullPlate. There are two sets in the game perfect for your two tanks.
Crabfish: Drizzt's armor prevents spellcasting in my game. I was really upset as I thought it would be a perfect fit for my bard.
I never knew that I figured you could cast with it on because I often us it on Coran or Kivan and both can use there theif or Stealth abilities. Thats a real bummer.

Oh, my mistake. I never tried actuall casting, just wearing it and seeing that the spellbutton weren't greyed out (as in bg2).
Sorry about the missinformation.
