I bought this game yesterday, and i can't get it to play. Whenever i press new game, the loading screen appears for a few seconds and the game crashes to the desktop. I have the game patched to 1.2
My specs:

Does anyone have an solution, cause i can't return the game to the shop.
By the way, this is what the crash log says

Not familar with this brand, do you know if your Video drivers are updated?
Also are your Sound and Motherboard (if VIA) drivers are updated?
See you are using dual processors, does your dual rig work with Half-Life 2?
Do you see any Logos or does it just crash strait away?
Have you tried a full reinstall, maybe give the game a try without the 1.2 patch, then again with 1.2?

Trust me, most of the names I have been called you can't translate in any language...they're not even real words as much as a succession of violent images.
Video drivers are always up to date, the same for the rest.
My pentium is an Hyperthreading, is that dualcore. It runs halflife 2 fine by the way.
When i press new game i see the loading screen for about 1-2 seconds and then it crashes to the desktop, after that i can't restart the game. And i can't delete the game like it should, cause it isn't in my softwarelist anymore..
I did notice that vampire.exe was taking more and more ram, even in main menu.

Tried looking up "Dual" on the offical forums in Tech Support, nothing some reason I keep thinking it is a possible conflict with Dual processors.
Did you try Safe Mode?
May as well try the reinstall without the 1.2 patch first, as a test.

Have you Googled the error ? Seems you are not the only one out there with said error. I got 237 google hits with copying and pasting your error. A few examples here:
1st Forum:
Could be a RAM problem or an overclocking problem. Is your system overclocked ? GPU or CPU ?
2nd Forum:
Could be sound problem. Disable the soundcard for a check.
You should google the error and take a look for yourself....

No I can not, there is no thread.
As I mentioned it was just something I was thinking and tried to do a search for dual in Tech and I got nothing, no hits, so either I am imagining it or it was somewhere else.
That is very odd you should not have more trouble, what OS (operating system) are you using, XP, SP#?
Do you hear music at the menu, where you select New Game?

First Intel hyperthreaded CPUs are one CPU build to hardware schedule processor usage against multiple (usually two) task schedules equally so it looks like a dual CPU to the operating system, as opposed to dual-core which are one physical CPU which actually has two CPU cores built into it so that it looks and acts like a dual CPU. The Dual-Core is faster. I have a 3GHz hyperrheaded at work and a 3 GHz dual-core at home, and the dual core is definitely faster by about 30-40%.
Second, hyperthreaded or dual core doesn't matter to this game. It only runs on one hyperthread/processor. I know for a fact that it will work properly on a formal dual processor box. That isn't the problem.
At a guess, I'd say that when you installed the game, you didn't install it with administrative privileges, and then tried to play it in a different account than the one it was installed from. The easiest way to duplicate this error is to play a dialog MP3 file from Windows Media Player and then try to play the game - the error will occur when it tries to play the MP3 file that Windows Media player locked out.
Now assuming that none of this type of activity has already occurred, I'd say that the installation didn't successfully complete, and your best way out is to uninstall it and re-install it.

That is kinda what I was hoping/waiting for was someone with a Dually setup to commment, thanks.
I agree it would almost have to be something with the install, if all his drivers are resonalbly updated and Half-Life 2 runs.
Especially if he is getting different errors/problems with each install, unless there is a problem with the disk or his DvD/Cd player.

That is a damned good theory. I've had glitches in my CD players that did a lot worse things than that. A wonky player is a very good idea. Unfortunately, the only way to prove it out is to replace the player.
