I found this chain, and had it identified. It says it is a Masterwork, which should reduce -2 armor penalty; insted I got another -2. Is that a bug? Any advice?
Thx.

The check penalty for chain mail is normally -5, and masterwork only reduces this penalty by 1, so by that reasoning it should be -4.
However, by core 3.5 rules, elven chain is a set piece and should have a -2 penalty.
I'm actually not sure off the top of my head what it is in my game. What are you saying your total penalty is now?

Hard to say if that's right, actually, because sometimes the breakdowns in that window get messed up. For instance, if you're overencumbered, it will report the penalty for that in terms of your armor, or even another piece of equipment. Not sure why that is, but there you go. So some of those -1's might be coming from some other source. Calculate what the total score should be by factoring in your ability, your modifiers, and everything, and see if you're getting the result you should. If so, then something's just labeled wrong. Also make sure you're not encumbered or have a penalty from some other shouce (like a shield).
