For some reason, chests at the bottom of lakes just never show up on the minimap. It doesn't matter what level of scout you have.

Me: "It's a great way to get promoted, I know that much."

You sure? My fighter in 1.4 has a scout skill of 5 and I see the chests in the water on the minimap. Same with my mage who has a scouting of 3, she sees them too on the minimap. Both in the sewers under house fathien's castle and in lake dread I saw them on the minimap

In my game (using the CE), chests don't show up in lakes, and when I dive down far enough into lakes, the minimap completely disappears. Maybe it's different in 1.4? It sure would be easier to deal with chests in lakes if they showed up on the minimap.

Thanks for the help though it total sucks that now you cannot see the chests on the map anymore makes it really tough to tell where they are. Does anyone know whether this will ever be fixed

If you increase your view distance in options I believe you can see the chest from the surface and when you dive down you can see them in outline. I'll double check this in the CE. D

For some reason with the CE you can't see the chest form a distance underwater even with view distance set to 100. D

These are different areas. If the lake is deep enough you, "descent" to the lower sea level, just like in a dungeon, or entering the Inn. Logically you cant see chests from another area(land). Thing Nr2 is that for some reason the game hides the minimap in small areas, like the Inn. Therefore you also cant spot them down there.

You can however very well see the chest if its not deep, for example in the lake between Fargrove and Skuldoon.

One way to spot them it to simply look around while underwater. They are not affected by water fog, and will easily be recognised as black boxes somewhere. I have non-CE version.
