Finished the Tsukihime anime, and reading the manga.
The anime received pretty bad ratings, but having never played the original video games, I actually thought it ok, although it felt slightly rushed, and having read the manga it became obvious that the anime left out quite some explanations. What I really had gripes with was the OP - it qualifies for one of the worst OPs I've had the misfortune to watch, both the music and the animation lacked any tension, and they fail to give a dark atmosphere either. It was just boring.
The manga seems to be better received than the anime. I've finished the first two volumes.

Shakugan no Shana has finished airing. Not worth watching IMO; in fact I was somewhat relieved that it ended.
Also done Tsubasa Chronicle the Movie and XXXholic the Movie, both created by CLAMP.
The XXXholic movie was OK. It didn't survive the switch from manga to anime without injury, but the feel was just fine. Couldn't say the same for the Tsubasa Chronicle movie unfortunately. Let's just say that no one should ever watch it, or even touch it with a ten-foot pole, and don't make me go into the details. Please.
Did anyone see the last episode of samurai champloo...and was it really the last episode?
@Slade: I saw the last episode. It was ok - a little predictable, certainly looked possible that they could do a sequel. Went back to review it but found I deleted it, which means I didn't really like the series much.
@ Rookie: want to elaborate on why Shakugan wasn't that good? I would be interested to hear.
I just finished Trinity Blood. I really wanted to like this anime - the characters were appealing and the animation was gorgeous. But I feel they really bungled the execution. I feel the production team wasted the potential here because of the way they patched things together and really didn't develop the characters well. In fact, if you do not have some sense of the novel then the anime is confusing. I also think they could have made better choices on the events and characters they focused on, which would have made the story more impactful. They try to do this big epic ending, which didn't work for me because a) I wasn't clear about the basis for what was going on and b) I didn't care enough about the characters for it to matter.
I'm curious if anyone has watched either Bleach, Mushishi, or Ergo Proxy and what you thought of them. I am about to start Paradise Kiss, which I am looking forward to.

Those who will play with kitties must expect to be scratched.

A rushed storyline mainly. I was frankly amazed that the author of the novel had allowed his work to be maimed in such a way. It's kind of hard to explain to someone who hasn't read the novel. It's not on my love list, that's for sure.@ Rookie: want to elaborate on why Shakugan wasn't that good? I would be interested to hear.
April is a fantastic month for anime lovers. Apart from highly popular series like Blood+ and Fate/Stay Night which will continue showing throughout April, there is practically an avalanche of excellent new anime.
My favourite ones are Ohran Koko Host Club and xxxHolic. The first one was a really pleasant surprise; I would not have watched it had I not came across a blog entry on it that used about every superlative imaginable. Two days after watching the first episode I bought the manga series (which did not impress me as much as the anime), and I couldn't wait for the second episode tomorrow. After the disappointment with the Tsubasa anime and the crap that was the Tsubasa movie, I was kind of worried that xxxHolic would follow suit, and I'm quite relieved; the anime manage to reproduce, by and large, the atmosphere of the manga.
Another April newcomer I watched was Utawaremono. It had great OP and ED music, and the artwork was fantastic - and that's all. I saw many reviewers give great reviews, but to me the character development was a piece of crap, the storyline is for now non-existant, and the one battle that had appeared so far also lacked lustre.
There are over a hundred new anime in April, and many of them are great, but apart from the ones I'm already watching I intend to watch only one more - Suzumiya Haruhi no Yutsu. This one has received unamious praise - tomorrow I intend to buy the novels, finish them in five hours, then watch the anime.

Watched the first two episodes of Suzumiya Haruhi no Yutsu.
I've seen God.
Sorry, Ohran Koko Host Club, but you have to settle for the second place.
It's kind of hard to describe, except that it's plain awesome. Period.
But paradoxically, I can't recommend anyone here to watch it.
Simply, you need to read at least the first two volumes of the novel to be able to enjoy episode one (zero?), although episode 2 (1?) finally gets somewhat normal.
However, if you could get your hands on the novels, and could read them, there is simply no reason you can miss it.

Slightly old but update for Masami Kurumada fans
Ohisashiburi, otaku-tachi! Minna genki desuka???
Anyway this might slightly old news for some otakus but if those have not heard the news, Toei released another chapter of SAINT SEIYA. For those who watches Saint Seiya : Hades Saga "Sanctuary Chapter" you might realised that the ending leaves many loose ends. Now you can rejoice since Toei released SAINT SEIYA : Hades Saga "Inferno" - it's already avaliable in DVDs. This is the conclusion of Hades Saga. So if you want to know the story continuance......check it out
Mo ichido....moero ore no kosumo yo !!!! :mischief:
