What is slowing my mainchar?

Post by 13th_Samurai »

Alright thats the problem:

My mainchar was identically fast as every other member of my group all the day, now, some gaming hours later, he is suddenly significantly slower...
I didnt change anything of his equipment and he can't be slowed by any means for he's wearing the ring of free action ("Edventar's Gift" i think)...
So how can that be? (22 strength, 88 lbs in backpack, nope i don't think thats the reason)

Is it the ring of free action? If all your other members are hasted (boots, spells, innate ablilities... whatever) then the ring could be keeping you from keeping up. You wouldn't be going slow so much as they're all going fast...

Special: The wearer is immune to everything, magically and otherwise, that affects mobility in any way. This includes haste and slow spells.

Thus Ring of Free Action negates the effect of Boots of Speed and is therefore most likely the root of your problem.

But the rest of his team is now faster than his PC. Which would mean they'd all have to wear BoS, for your argument to be true.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

That was kind of what I was thinking- maybe he only has three characters in his group, they all have the boots, etc.

Another idea, albeit a stretch- does being fatigued decrease your movement rate? Maybe after raging or going bezerk you're not moving as quick.

Alright, none of my chars was wearing any movement increase items nor were any monement increasing spells active (also tried resting, but that didn't change anything)
I have 5 chars in my group with 4 times boots of speed.
By the waay the ring doesn't negate the boot's effect for some reason
Also the buff/debuff list doesn't show any negative effect

Hmm i just found out that it must have happened during the fights against Yaga-Shura

Tried fight against yaga shura again but apparently it didn't occur this time...

Another question referring haste/boots of speed: do they prevent party-npc triggered dialogues from happening?

Well, it should. Strange.

Which of the characters are wearing BoS? Your Mainchar obviously (or the GMA, see further down) - otherwise you wouldn't notice him getting slow, I mean. Also, you said in your first post that every one was equally fast, but now you say that not all have BoS. Are you wearing the Granmaster's Armor (which increases speed like the boots)?

Try fippling with the ring and the boots and see if it changes.

To your other question: No, it shouldn't have any affact what-so-ever.

Well i've been trying tu figure out whats up by changing boots of speed and the ring several times(got 5 pairs, none of my men wore them during yaga-shura fight or after it).

I think i managed to trigger the effect once more (on purpose this time) by switching boots of speed and ring of free action some times after the fight...
i think they really weren't designed to have both effects active at the same time

Hmmm seems like the effect were something like inevitable so i think i won't bother the little movement-speed loss...
I modified the movement speed lvl with SK from 0 to 2 its almost same as the others now, minimal difference...

IIRC, the ring of free action will not affect the BoS if the boots are donned after the ring.

Note that the ring and the boots should not work together, and that changing such in SK would be considered a cheat by many.
