mace of disruption +2
mace of disruption +2
I was just wondering how to get it. I know I get the mace in the tombs from the pool of blood, but where do I get the Illithium? Is that part of the Sir Sarles quest? I don't recall Illithium being anywhere else...

SPOILERS:
Well, you have to get the mace itself from Bodhi's lair the first time you gain access. Prior to that however, you must have completed the Sir Sarles quest and not, I repeat not, given him the actual illithium, but rather the alloy. Get the mace from the pool of blood, bring it to the the smith in the docks (whose name I'm forgetting) and- there you go: you've got the +2 MoD!
Does the Alloy actually work? or do I have to screw up the quest to get the upgraded mace?
I'm not sure exactly what you mean, so pardon me if I'm redundant. The alloy cannot be used to upgrade the Mace of Disruption, so you need to keep the real ore for that purpose. Drop it on the ground before you talk to Sir Sarles.
SPOILERS:
Sir Sarles says he won't settle for anything but pure illithium, but don't let that scare you. Go ahead and offer him the alloy substitute, or just tell him you couldn't get the real thing. Just try it and see what happens. Remember that your duty is to Helm, not to Sir Sarles.
The only place to get the illithium ore in an unmodded game is from Neb, and I presume you are familiar with that route.
However, if you install the Saerileth NPC Mod, you'll have a chance to buy some (if you can find the person who sells it). This gives you the chance to upgrade the Mace of Disruption AND be completely honest with Sir Sarles as a servant of Helm should be.
